Deviations from the existing Hardware/Software environment

This section provides the deviation from the existing environment at Oracle
University or at Education Support Services.
Hardware Deviation
This section specifies the hardware requirements for the module: Implement SelfService Human Resources
No requirements
Software Deviation
This section specifies the software requirements for the module: Implement SelfService Human Resources
Requires Workflow Builder 2.6 or later
Oracle HRMS Applications, Release 12.
Architecture Deviation
This section specifies the architecture requirements for the module: Implement
Self-Service Human Resources
The Apache Server (a middle tier component of Oracle Self Service Web
Applications) will have to be restarted on demand at various times, as indicated in
the practices, so that the students' configuration changes take effect. To do this,
the instructor must log a ticket with Grid Services (GS). It will take about 10
minutes from the support person receiving the ticket to actually bounce the server.
The Workflow Builder client side software is not optimized for use over a Wide
Area Network. If Workflow Builder is installed locally on the PCs in the
classroom and the classroom is far from the database server the students will
encounter unacceptable delays when trying to save Workflow definition changes
back to the database from within the Workflow Builder tool. The solution is to
adopt the following architecture (discussed and agreed with Greg Koch, Margaret
Wong, and Bob Eagles for V4 version of course):

Students use ftp to copy their .wft files to the database server and execute
the Workflow Loader utility remotely.

The procedure is as follows:

Instructor will provide host/server and user names.

To FTP files:

We need the following repetitive data:

4 employees one of whom is in a different business group (for example, 3

from US and 1 from UK). This is covered as the following employees
are available in the Vision database as repetitive employees There are
multple versions of these employees each with a numerical suffix. You
can allocate a number to each student for them to use throughout the
course.:

Malcolm Aurora (US)

Mary Martin (US)

Carl Whiteside (US)

Helen Carr (UK)

The Vision instance may use a security profile to exclude US Education

employees from the Vision instance. Before each class, the instructor must
query this security profile and remove the profile if it has been set.
The procedure to query and remove the security profile is as follows:
1. Log in as hrms/welcome and use the System Administrator
responsibility.
2. Navigate to the Find System Profiles Values window.
(N) Profile > System
3. Search for and select the application Human Resources.
4. Search for and select the responsibility US Super HRMS Manager.
5. Enter HR: Security Profile in the Profile field and click Find.
6. Delete any security profiles entered in the Application and
Responsibility columns.
