MAP TESTING: Beginning the first week of May all students will take the final MAP assessments in math, reading and litera- cy. These tests measure progress and student growth as well as identify areas in need of additional instruction. As an online assessment they are aligned with the new PARCC format. Each student will test for two sessions during that period.

EXCUSED ABSENCES: Please remember that students who have over ten unex- cused absences for the semester lose credit in their class(es). Saturdays count as regular school days. Please provide the main office all doctor’s notes or other documentation which can excuse an ab- sence. All parents/guardians should call the school to report a student absent.

CREDIT COMPLETION: Credit comple- tion for the fall semester has ended. Al- most all students completed the neces- sary hours. Seniors must complete credit completion prior to graduation.

EXAM EXEMPTIONS: Students who earned an 85 or better on their mid-term exam and have an “A” average at the end of the course are exempt from taking the final exam. They end the course with a grade of “A”

HOMEWORK CENTER: A supervised, after- school homework center is available for the students every week MondayWednesday. A free late bus will take the students home at 5:00 pm. Any student who stays late must sign up for the after-school activity prior to fourth block

TRANSPORTATION: MOESC has assured us that issues of late buses at dismissal time will end. They have taken action against the bus companies who were running late and are con- ducting spot checks for compliance.

PARCC INFORMATION: NJ is one of several states using the PARCC assessment as a meas- ure of student achievement. This assessment is one of the ways students (Juniors or younger) can meet their graduation requirements. We have completed the PBS PARCC administration. In early June students will take the EOY PARCC tests.

APPLICATIONS : We are accepting applica- tions for next year. Applications may be ob- tained from the main office (phone, fax or mail) or may be downloaded from or completed online at our website www.academycharterhs.org.
