Graduation3 pm
GRADUATION : Graduation will take place
in our gym on Friday, June 19, 2015 at 3pm.
All attendees will need a ticketeven children. Each student is provided 6 tickets.
There are no additional tickets available as
per fire code. The fee for graduation is $40
and includes a yearbook. Practices are mandatory 6/18 1:30 pm 6/19 9:30 am.
SUMMER SCHOOL: Students may repeat a
previous course for credit via our contracted
online provider. All arrangements must be
made through the Guidance office at the
school. Students may also take courses at
their resident district program. Math courses
may not be made up in summer school.
CREDIT COMPLETION: Credit completion
for spring semester must be completed for all
seniors prior to graduation. Underclassmen
may complete credit completion hours during
the month of July.
EXAM EXEMPTIONS: Students who earned
an 85 or better on their mid-term exam and
have an A average at the end of the course
are exempt from taking the final exam. They
end the course with a grade of A. Please
encourage you student to work for exemptions.
ATTENDACE: Your student cannot get the
full benefit of their education without being
present in school each day. Please support
your student by scheduling doctors and other
appointments after school. If that is not possible please remove them only for the necessary time.

HOMEWORK CENTER: A supervised, afterschool homework center is available for the


students every week Monday Wednesday. A
free late bus will take the students home at
5:00 pm. Any student who stays late must sign
up for the after-school activity prior to fourth
block
SUMMER READING: Research studies indicate the importance of keeping student minds
active over the summer months. Summer reading programs have been found to reduce regression that can occur when students are not
in school. All students entering their sophomore, junior or senior years will be issued a
summer reading book within the next two
weeks. The related assignment will be distributed and will also be posted on the website. All
assignments are collected and books returned
the first week of school in September.
EXCUSED ABSENCES: Please remember that

students who have over ten unexcused absences for the semester lose credit in their
class(es). Saturdays count as regular school
days. Please provide the main office all doctors
notes or other documentation which can excuse an absence. All parents/guardians should
call the school to report a student absent.
APPLICATIONS : We are accepting applications for next year. Applications may be obtained from the main office (phone, fax or
mail) or may be downloaded from or completed
online at our website
www.academycharterhs.org.
NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY : Tomorrow
night several students will be inducted into
NHS in recognition of their outstanding scholarship, character, leadership and service. Congratulations to David Rivera, Antonius Thigpen,
Jessica Clement, Kwishawn Edwards-Clayton
and Tybreanna Jackson.

SENIOR RECEPTION The Senior Reception will be held from 6 pm9 pm on


Tuesday June 9, 2015 at the Waterview
Pavilion in Belmar. Our seniors will share
their senior projects with their family and
the school community. It is always a special night. Each student may bring two
guests. Please RSVP to Ms. Matthews.
SPORTS DINNER: On Thursday June 11
we will recognize all of our studentathletes. The dinner will be from 6 pm8
pm at the Riverview Pavilion in Belmar.
Each student may bring 1 guest. Additional guests are $25 per person. All attendees must RSVP by June 3.

SPRING SPORTS The track team had a
successful season with several students
recording personal bests. Congratulations
to Karon Rigby who long jumped 19 ft. 7
in. to qualify for Group I Championship.
ACHS baseball qualified for the Central
Jersey Group 1 State Tournament for the
first time in school history. Great job student-athletes. Thank you coaches for your
dedication to the students.
