MAN Diesel & Turbos retrofit concept consits of a broad range of
solutions where our after-sales division MAN PrimeServ applies the
latest developments within diesel technology to engines in service
and in the process brings them up to current standards to meet
modern emission levels while cutting running costs. The concept
applies to all MAN Diesel & Turbo engines (both marine and stationary), propellers and turbochargers. It can even be applied to engines

ME-GI Conversion
The GI designation indicates that it is a modification of the MAN B&W MC and

ME engine to Gas Injection.
The ME-GI engine is an electronically controlled engine, which introduces electronic control of both oil and gas injection, ensuring that
the process of mixture formation, ignition and combustion is optimized. This concept is based on a gas injection principle with pilot
fuel ignition. With this principle, the diesel combustion process can
be fully utilized, and the same high thermal efficiency as for the twostroke engines burning heavy fuel oil can thereby be obtained.
The ME-GI engine therefore possesses the inherent advantage of
reducing emissions. Fuel oil and gas fuel prices are changing. However, by utilizing the ME-GI engine, full fuel flexibility and the highest
efficiency are available regardless of the actual price level of fuels on
the market.

Conversion to Dual-Fuel / Gas
As the availability of natural gas increases worldwide, gas-powered engines

are becoming more and more attractive for power generation in land-based
and marine applications.
Operators are looking for solutions that make use of gas in their existing diesel engines wherever possible. Dual-fuel engines provide the
ability to run on either gas or liquid fuels. Retrofit solutions for upgrading existing diesel engines to dual-fuel capability are a suitable
way to benefit from the economic and environmental advantages of
gas operation. MAN Diesel & Turbo provides dual-fuel retrofit solutions based on the latest state-of-the-art technology, enabling engine operation with higher efficiency and lower emissions in combination with a lifetime extension.

covering FPPs, CPPs and Efficiency Improving Devices. Optimized
