Thepurposeofthisproposalistorequestfundsfordevicestosupportlearninginamiddle
schoolmathematicsclassroom.Currentlystudentshaveaccesstoacomputerlab,butdonot
havetheabilitytoaccesstechnologyintheclassroomonadailybasis.Studentsarelimitedas
towhattheycancreatewithtechnologybasedonthenumberofteachersthatshareaccessto
thecomputerlab.Byprovidingdevicestothisclassroom,studentswillbeabletotaketurns
usingtechnologydailyorworkinsmallgroupstocreateproductstodisplaytheirlearning.

Use
TheiPadswillbeusedinmiddleschoolmathematicsclasses.StudentswillusetheiPadsto
createvideosdisplayingtheirunderstandingofamathematicalconcept.Thiswillrequire
studentstotakewhattheyhavelearnedandcommunicateitclearlyandconciselytoaglobal
audience.Studentswillbegivenchoiceastowhichapptheywouldliketouse,forexample
iMovie,ExplainEverything,orotherappstheyselect.Thesevideoswillcollectedinanonline
librarythatcanbeaccessedbytheirpeerswhoarestrugglingonaconcept,bytheirparents,or
anyoneontheinternet.

throughtheinternet.Studentsmaychoosetoworkindependentlyorcollaborativelyinsmall
groups.

Bycreatingvideos,studentsareactivelyengagedinlearningcontentwhiledevelopingother
skillssuchascriticalthinking,collaboration,andorganization.Findingtheequipmentthatis
neededtocreate,edit,andpublishavideocanbechallengingandexpensive,butwithdevices
suchastheiPad,allofthesetaskscanbeperformedononetool.Academicgaincanbeseen
throughvideocreation,alongwithallowingstudentstobeconnectedtoaworldwideaudience.
