DAVE CONWAY
(Second from Right)
I truly enjoy meeting our various students from all
walks of life. I love hearing about their backgrounds,
experiences, challenges, and hopes. I am fortunate
that I get to meet so many great people at a time
when they are looking to make positive change in
their lives. I will never forget the stories that they tell
and the things that they share with me. Some stories
are quite inspiring, and occasionally I even relay
them to my own children, in hopes that they will see
that anything is possible with determination and
effort.
One of the things that I find most rewarding is when
I run into a graduate that is working in the
field. Whether I am at a fine restaurant, getting my
car worked on, having my AC fixed, getting a medical
procedure or getting my hair cut, I always come
across one of our success stories. This shows me that
the education and training here at Lincoln pays off
with real results. Quite often, students come in with
no experience or training, and are now productive
and successful in their career of choice. This is what
its all about.
Jerry Hanrahan
(Third from Right)
I have been working as an Admissions Representative since 1980 and started with Lincoln/New England Tech in 1988. I have enjoyed my Career every
day because I enjoy helping students to fulfill their
dreams and become successful in a career they enjoy. The most satisfying part of my work is seeing
students walk across the stage at graduation knowing I have helped them to change their lives.

Clint Creque was born and raised in the British Virgin Islands. He moved to
Florida for the sole purpose of becoming a Pastry Chef, and his dreams are
coming to fruition in sunny West Palm Beach thanks to the many doors that
have opened for him on attending Lincoln Culinary Institute.
Why Lincoln?
I had my heart set on coming to America to learn the art of pastry making,
and intended to enroll with Johnson and Wales, but things fell through. My
mind was made up though, Florida was close to home, the climate was
perfect, and I had come before on many vacations and loved it. So when my
dreams started to fall through I did some research and talked to people I knew back home. It turned out I had a
friend who attended Lincoln and told me how amazing the program was. I immediately called Lincoln long distance,
and started my career rolling. I did visit once before I started to make sure I fit with Lincoln. From the start I felt like I
belonged here. Sure at first I was homesick, but I started to meet so many interesting people from all over that West
Palm Beach and Lincoln became my second home.
What degree did you get?
I was supposed to come for one year and get my Associates in International Baking & Pastry, but after I finished my
degree I got a once-in-a-lifetime grant from my country to continue studying. Without taking a break, I continued on
until I had my Bachelors in Culinary Management. The US allows foreign students one year of experience after school
which is what Im doing now.
Are you going back to the Virgin Islands?
That was my intent, but I landed my dream job. I am now working at Eau Palm Beach Resort and Spa. I am working as
a cook but will soon be transferring to the Bake Shop. I wake up excited about going to work. I love the job and the
people. I am able to hone all the skills Lincoln taught me in a big country in a high volume kitchen. The experience Im
getting now will one day allow me to have my own pastry shop maybe here or maybe back home. What I do know is
that I absolutely love my job. Not only do I love going to work, but I feel like Im living the dream.
What suggestions do you have for current students?
The sky is the limit. Follow your dreams and think outside the box. I initially thought I was coming to the US for one
year of study. That one year turned into two years of education and a dream job offering. Let your dreams lead you
to your success.

Why Lincoln?
I initially thought of going to Palm Beach State College,
but they were not inviting in demeanor and had no
intention of helping someone for whom English was
not a first language. Everyone was identical in their
eyes. I wasnt happy with my experience, so I looked
around the area for other options. That is when I
became aware of Lincoln College of Technology. I
visited Lincoln with only the intention of getting some
information, but when I walked in it was amazing. An
advisor talked to me, and I felt at home like I belonged.
Needless to say, I enrolled.

Jaquiria Colbert calls herself a Florida girl. Not only was she born
and raised right here in West Palm Beach, but her entire family was.
The farthest she travels from home is Georgia where her grandparents
moved to. She loves her hometown too much to even go to Georgia for
long.

What is your goal as a nurse?
I want to be able to comfort and connect the
healing process with patients; provide my future
patients with respect, dignity, compassion and
the care they deserve from a nurse; bring
conscious effort to enable health to prevail as well
as a realistic prognosis; and to comprehend all
levels of nursing and the ability of this function to
enhance a better understanding to those I will
serve.
Why do you want to be a registered nurse?
Caring for those who are sick, injured and in need
has been my daily routine for the past ten years;
however, it has been a lifetime of inner strength,
