Fallen

By Nazar Rusli
Perhaps I was an angel, but I fell because
I was tempted by the life of human beings.
Everything is in color.
I lost my armor and my wings were broken.
The word of loss is written on my forehead.
I reach out to regain my divine power,
But human lust builds a barbed-wire fence
between heaven and earth.
I am stuck in the middle.
As a bird, you teach me how to fly
like I used to.
You said, He wants you back in heaven.
I am lured and try my best to fly with you.
The wind of desire, however, is so strong.
Besides, I live in your denial. I cast myself to humility.
I am a fallen angel. Your rejection crushes me
into a reef.
Now, the sky I live under is always gray.
My life is surrounded by greed and blood.
I want to flee from this limbo, but I cant escape
from the fire around me. I want to fly with you.
Maybe I never exist in your life.
