Ceregula bestia

Mason Clark

Everything has a start. Im going to tell you how one of the most deadly viruses in history
started. It all started about 5 years ago in the town or should I say city of Lagos, Nigeria. First,
you need to understand that 5 million people live in Lagos and it isnt the most clean of cities. In
cities this dirty rats are very prolific. Now, let me tell you rats will do just about anything to eat,
even eat each other. The people of Lagos have also been known to go on rat killing sprees in
their markets. I next need to tell you some genetic information so you know more about the
virus. To learn the characteristics of this virus you must break down the pieces from a gene all
the way down to the amino acid. First you take a gene then you translate the gene into a mRNA
sequence. The mRNA conveys the genetic information to the ribosomes. Codon charts help
decipher these mRNA sequences into amino acid combinations. These are connected by tRNA.
The amino acid sequences are what give you the characteristics of the virus. All of this
information sets the table for the spread of a terrible virus.
It all starts in a strand of DNA where the Ceregula bestia mutated. It so happens that it
was in a rat. This rat was not in the best of health and was trying to survive any way it could.
After a few hours, the rat became agitated and antisocial. He began hallucinating and he started
to cough up blood. He then became cannibalistic and bit another rat spreading it through fluids
which is the only way it can spread. Once the virus enters the body it tries to find a host cell to
start replicating from and the Ceregula bestia goes straight for the brain and tonsils where it
attacks the cells quickly. It doesnt have an envelope so the virus cannot fuse with the membrane.
It will enter the cell through the plasma membrane by ways of endocytosis. The proteins of the
virus are crucial in the entry. The virus needs to enter the nucleus for replication which is crucial
for the survival of the virus. Now you have two animals with the disease and it just spreads from

there. It starts with just two then, it becomes a dozen then, it becomes one-hundred, and soon it
spreaded to the whole population in one of the Lagos markets. Like I said earlier the people of
Lagos have been know to go into their markets and kill many rats at once. One man went out
with his community to kill a horde of rats, though most of these rats would be dead in a day
anyways. His name was Cole King. The community then precedes to kill as many as they can so
the rats dont ruin what they are selling. Cole became overzealous with his killing and got bit by
an infected rat. Of course he didnt know the rat was infected and the virus started to attack
immediately going for his brain and tonsils. He noticed the symptoms very quickly actually the
day after was when he started to experience vision loss and he also started to cough up blood. He
went to the hospital across town and on his way there he began coughing more frequently and
threw up on a man on a bench. Once he got into emergency room he experienced total vision lost
then accidentally threw up on a woman and her child. The doctors admitted him and didnt know
what to do so they kept him in intensive care. He died the next day from internal bleeding. The
hospital then began getting cases that were similar to his. That was the first major outbreak of
Ceregula bestia causing over 5,000 deaths.
