Important Online Math Resources

1. Edmodo (http://ridgeview.edmodo.com/home) login required, see below for direction


Posting of assignments, announcements, and links to important video and teacher document resources.
You can get your PARENT CODE from your childs account. There are apps for your smartphones too
(for Android and iPhone). One Parent Code will allow you to see ALL of your childs class groups.
2. Khan Academy (www.khanacademy.org) no login required, but you can sign up for a free account.
Contains extensive video tutorials and practice problems with support (step-by-step hints). Your child
may sign up for a free account to keep a record of their progress.
3. BrainPOP (www.brainpop.com) login required: Username = Ridgeview Password = panther
Animated educational website (also available in Spanish and French). There is an Apple app. available

4. LearnZillion (http://learnzillion.com/) no login required, but you can sign up for a free account.
Contains Common Core-aligned, searchable video presentations for 6th, 7th and 8th grades.
5. MathTV (http://www.mathtv.com/videos_by_topic) no login required.

D=562 Contains videos covering many middle school math topics, with different age men and women

presenters for many of the video topics, so you can pick the presenter you like best.
6. Teacher Tube (http://teachertube.com/) no login required.
Contains videos on a wide range of subjects including math. Videos have intro ads but they can be
skipped after a few seconds. Material is education oriented and safer than YouTube, quality varies.
7. Math.com (http://www.math.com/) no login required.
Contains an overview, more in-depth coverage, examples and practice problems for every topic
covered. They site is a bit difficult to navigate and full of ads, but does contain a lot of information.
HAC (Home Access Center) - Accessing Grades Online
1.

Go to the schools website: www.ridgeviewcharterschool.org.

2.

Select Home Access Center from the Parents dropdown menu.

3.

If you have a login, click Login to Home Access Center. If you do not, click Request a Login for Home
Access Center and fill in the requested information. Your personal login information will have to be
picked up in person in the RCS front office.

Note:

When looking at Home Access Center you may notice the following codes in your childs grade report:
NHI Not Handed In averages as a zero in the grade book (until turned in late, if accepted / graded)
ABS Absent assignment is not averaged into overall grade average
EX Excused assignment is not averaged into overall grade average
I Incomplete assignment is not averaged into overall grade average
