Glossary
Glossary
The following glossary includes the list and description of the specific terms for the BiesseFolding
macros.
For information on the general terms refer to the Glossary in the BiesseWorks instructions for use.
Channel
Profile made on the wooden panel in order to create a score (groove) with a milling cutter or
circular blade.
Coated panel
Panel made of wood (plywood, MDF or chipboard) with one or both surfaces coated with
different material (melamine, PVC, etc.).
Folding Technique
Construction technique for pieces of furniture that consists in folding a single wooden panel on
which 90 scores are applied (V milling for folding), in order to obtain perfect corners and
angles.
Folding
See Folding Technique
Piece of furniture
An individual piece of furniture, such as a chest of drawers, a bedside table, an overhead unit,
etc.
Side
Side element of the piece of furniture.
Wooden panel
General term used to define a panel made of wood, such as a plywood, chipboard, MDF, etc.
panel.

Introduction
The Biesse Folding macros are used to design pieces of furniture using the Folding technique.
The term Folding refers to a construction system for pieces of furniture that involves folding a
single wooden panel on which scores are applied at ninety degrees, in order to obtain perfect
corners and angles (see figure 1).

The necessary machining operations are designed and programmed with the aid of suitable
macros, which are to be called up inside the BPP document.
Find below the sequence of operations to be followed during the piece of furniture programming
stage:
1.
Run the Editor application software and display the corresponding toolbar using one of the
following procedures:
click on menu Display and on the option Additions Toolbar > BiesseFolding;
display the context menu of the menu bar and click on the option Additions Toolbar >
BiesseFolding.
If the BiesseFolding bar is not displayed, macros are disabled: in this case enable them (see
chapter related to the use of macros in the BiesseWorks instructions for use).

Description
Geometric parameter macros to define the profile of the piece of furniture on which
to make the channels (see section 2.1, page 11).
Machining macros
The macros in this group are used to insert the necessary machining operations according to the
type of tool used: circular blade or circular milling cutter.
Button
Description
Macro to carry out rough cutting operations, to be applied before the actual
machining operation, or to finish the final shape, cutting the excess material
(waste).
For a detailed description of this macro, see section 2.2, page 14.

The following chapter includes the information on how to use the macros to program the wooden
panel machining using the Folding technique.
In the following paragraphs, only the specific parameters for each individual macro are
described. For the description of the technological parameters present on the dialogue
boxes, see the chapter corresponding to machining operation programming, in the
BiesseWorks instructions for use.
2.1
The parameters present in the dialogue box can be divided into three groups:
General parameters; general parameters, to be filled in according to your own requirements.
Parameters to define the scores; parameters to be filled in to create a piece of furniture
piece of furniture according to its dimensions: width, thickness and height. The filling in of
these parameters is overriding, i.e. it excludes filling in of the parameters that are part of the
group Parameters to define the scores.
11
General parameters
ANG; angle of the score to be made in order to fold the wooden panel.
P; score depth.
S; height of the chamfer present on the circular tool (blade or milling cutter) that will make the
score (figure 4). This parameter is only valid for the tools installed in an adjustable spindle.
Figure 4
SF; used to carry out through machining operations after the channels final point, so that the waste
can be removed more easily.

IND; used to reverse the feed direction of the tool. When making the score, the tool does not begin
at the profile start point, but at the endpoint.
0 = function disabled.

Programming tips
It is advisable to set, in the Correction data field, the Right Corr. option.
The Depth data field must not be filled in, as the depth value is obtained from the settings

It is advisable to set, in the Correction data field, the Centre Corr. option.
