COVER LETTER
FORMAT AND LAYOUT

Did it use an appropriate letter style?


Has the date been written correctly?
Has the right salutation and address been used?
Is there a subject heading?
Is there an appropriate closing?

LENGTH
Is the letter of appropriate length (not more than 2 pages)?

CONTENT
Opening paragraph:
Did the applicant mention the job that he/she applied for?
Is the source of information and interest in the job mentioned?

Middle paragraph:
Did the applicant present appropriate qualifications, academic records
and personal
qualities for the job?
Did he/she emphasize only key words?
Are the points tailored to the requirements of the job?

End paragraph:

Did the applicant ask for an interview?

Others?
Did the applicant mention that the resume is enclosed?
Should any points be left out?
Should other points be included?
What points need more elaboration?
Is there any problem with the organization of the points?

Language

Does the letter sound business like?


Are there any grammar errors?
Are there any spelling errors?
Are there any punctuation errors?

Overall Impression
Would you call the candidate for an interview?
