Communicative language teaching

I put CLT into my lessons because my pupils are all learning English as a second
language, therefore I believe the CLT approach is the best approach I can use to
teach them.
I made use of CLT throughout all my lessons by letting my pupils work together. By
doing this communication and interaction takes place so that my pupils will be able
to learn from each other and help each other when needed.
Inductive Grammar
I also made use of inductive grammar throughout my grammar lessons when I
taught my pupils the past simple tense and the action verbs. These are all aspects
of grammar that my pupils will need for their writing and speaking skills. An
example of inductive grammar from my lessons would be, when my pupils received
the Martin Luther King speech and they were required to look for words, action
verbs or phrases that were written in the present simple and change them into the
past simple in order to indicate that these phrases or verbs happened and stayed in
the past.

Task Based learning

Throughout my lessons I used TBL because I believe it is a fun and interactive way
for my pupils to learn. In each of my lessons I activate pre knowledge, get my
pupils motivated in the topic. Once that part of the lesson is over the task cycle
begins, my pupils work on different types of exercises (tasks) in which they will have
to complete tasks that are completed focuses on the English language. Not
forgetting that at the end of each lesson my pupils are required to produce a project
as output (Pentapie) which I (teacher) check to make sure that they have actually
did the task.

CLIL
Each one of my lessons are integrated lesson, they are all based on American
History but because I am an English teacher my main focus was on teaching
English. Therefore I incorporated English into my lessons (grammar/vocabulary). I
have incorporated this is such a manner that it will not matter if you are an English
or History teacher, both teachers will be able to teach these lessons.

Exposure to Vocabulary
Throughout most of my lessons, my pupils will be learning new vocabulary via texts
or videos and exercises. I make sure that each lesson that focuses on vocabulary
has a proper list with all of the vocabulary words that they will learn in order to
improve their English speaking skills.

Activated learning
Throughout my lessons my pupils will be activity learning. Pupils will be constantly
active, working together in groups on activities playing quizzes on www.Kahoot.it,
writing essays, making survival posters etc. They will constantly be learning and
helping each other as they go along.
Pentapie
Each one of my lessons were planned and put together according to the Pentapie.
The Pentapie focuses on input, content processing, form processing and output. My
lessons are all based on this.
At the beginning of each lesson I give my pupils as much input as I can give them to
help them understand the topic they are going to learn.
Then there is the content processing part of the lesson, here I ask my pupils the
who what where questions. Everything I want to know from them, for example
questions about the input that they have received (texts or videos that theyve read
or watched).
Not forgetting form processing, I incorporate English grammar or vocabulary into
history. In one lessons I let my pupils my pupils take part in a dance that focuses on
action verbs only, they had to follow the actions as the singer sang the song. In
other lessons I give my pupils a list of new vocabulary words and let pupils read
texts with these words in the context and let them work together to figure out the
definitions of the new vocabulary words they just learned.

Output. My lessons would not be completed without output. I use the output to
check if my pupils have actually understood and learned everything (achieved the
goals) that they were supposed to learn during my lesson. I do this by letting them
produce a product. in one lesson they had to create a survival poster.
