Adobe InDesign/Adobe Photoshop/ Adobe Illustrator

Description

A three sided (trifold) folding brochure.

Objectives

Set up and align a two-sided, folded document.

Create an original, new logo and use it in a brochure.
Incorporate quality images. Incorporate at least four quality images, not including the logo. One should
be clipped in Photoshop and text-wrapped in InDesign so the text follows the cutout shape of the image.
Write at least 250 words of original copy in at least three paragraphs, headers, and subheaders. Trim for a
full bleed and print in duplet (two-sided) color.

Process

I first, sketched a few designs that would work on a trifold brochure. I then, set up 3 sections on two
pages in Adobe Indesign to create the trifold style. I took the layout I had drawn on paper and created it
on Indesign. I used black shapes in place of photos and lorem ipsum in place of text. After I had a layout
set up, I went to find photos that would support my message as a beauty blogger. My message is to
inform/promote my blog, Beauty with Bobie. Once I found the photos I wanted to use, I uploaded them
into Adobe Photoshop. I used the lasso tool in order to crop each section of a photo that I wanted to use.

I then put them into Indesign.I switched the lorem ipsum to the actual text used and wrapped it

around the photo beside each paragraph using the text wrap tool. In Adobe Illustrator, I created

a simple, yet effective and memorable logo design which is BWB slanted and in a
scripted font.

Description

A Montage of Jesus Christ and a married couple with an

inspiring quote to uplift peoples mood spiritually.

Objectives

Use the FOCUS design process with strong focal point and flow
Unify a layout with a consistent theme and dominant spiritual message
Learn to blend two or more images together gradually, using masks
Demonstrate more advanced Photoshop skills for layout with multiple elements
Use a mask to apply a filter to one part of the image
Apply typography principles (titles, quotes, events or scripturesyour choice)
Format type: Legibility; Small copy & Title with varying text size. Theme word(s)
Select good quality images

Process

I googled a photo of Jesus Christ and a Photo of a couple standing in front of a sunset. I uploaded each
image into Photoshop. I took the photo of Jesus and moved it into the middle of the couple, then blended
the surrounding white clouds in the photo of jesus until it blended into the sunset. I took the angels in
the photo of Christ and blended them into the bottom of the photo by the people holding hands. That is
where the montage effect is truly shown. I used the skills taught this week in class. These skills consisted

of the dodge tool, masking, and blending text.

Description

A flier advertising the Graduate Leadership Conference.

Objectives

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

Incorporate basic InDesign skills to improve basic flier layout.
Retrieve image and logo from links on this page.
Create a project folder with image, logo and InDesign document to keep links in InDesign intact.

Process

First, I sketched simple ideas on what the flier could look like on a sheet of paper. Second, I learned how
to use InDesign, by watching the tutorial from Sister Esplin, and recreated the design I sketched onto
InDesign. Third, I asked my a few friends to critique and assess my design by following the Draft Critique
checklist. Finally, I made the appropriate adjustments on my design in order to perfect it and create a flier
that will successfully catch the attention of my targeted audience.

Adobe InDesign/Microsoft Word

Description

An event Ad advertising a fundraiser to raise money for
children with cancer.

Objectives

Apply the design principles and use appropriate typography.

Comprehend image sizing (how pixels and inches work together)
Find, scan and import a high-quality image.
Create a full-bleed design.
Choose a color scheme and typeface(s) that work for your message and audience.
Learn to use only Word design features without using any Adobe programs, including Photoshop.

Process

I used the Adobe Photoshop to convert the PPI of the photo. After, I uploaded it into Microsoft Word in
order to create the layout of the ad. I created rectangles on the side of the ad in a monochronamic color
scheme. The rocks in the photo represent peace and are a sign of retreat. I thought a yoga ad would go
along well with the photo. I added the details of the event in a verticle text box.

Adobe InDesign/ Adobe Photoshop

A photo design with a monochronamic color scheme

incorporated to fit the original colors in the photo.

Description
Objectives

Learn basic photography skills.

Choose a color scheme, take a photo to match those colors, then incorporate the colors into the layout.
Use a digital camera to take a quality image, then download it.
Adjust image levels, saturation, color balance, sharpen tool on separate layers for NDE (non-destructive
editing.)
Size and crop the image, then place on an 8.511 page layout.
Use layers to design text, and repeating graphic elements in Photoshop.
Print with full-bleed margins. Trim only 1/8 (0.125) from all four sides.

Process

First, I took a photo of houses in a valley using good lighting, composition, and focus.
Then, I uploaded it into Adobe Photoshop and using the basic skills of leveling, changing the vibrancy,
selective color, and sharpening I edited the photo to what I wanted it to look like. I then proceeded to
work in Adobe Indesign to create the complete design. I created a monochronamic color scheme using
three shades of the color lime. I also added an encouraging quote that related to the photo.

I created a simple and elegant logo in Adobe Illustrator that branded my business well. I created the
stationery letterhead layout in Adobe Indesign. I placed the logo in the middle of the page in a dark red
color then lowered the opacity so that it was not too harsh on the eyes. In the top center of the page I
wrote the name of my blog. At the bottom center of the page I put all my contact information. I used the
text tool in order to create my stationery.

Description

A logo promoting a blog called Beauty with Bobie

Objectives

Create three completely different, original logos to fit a company or personal image that will appeal to the
audience. Do not imitate existing logos or use previous designs.
Market research: gather opinions from at least ten people about which logo appeals most to them.
Use only the Illustrator tools to create and draw your logos. (No Illustrator pre-fabricated flares, symbols,
etc.. No photos or live-tracing. You may use an image or drawing as a guide to trace it with the
pen/pencil, but delete the image before submitting.)
Refine one logo with variations for color

Process

I started with sketching ideas that would send the correct message and catch the eye of my audience.
Once I found 3 that I was satisfied with I created them in Adobe Illustrator. After taking votes and
judging which logo looked best, I went with the simpler logo with a nice color scheme. This color
scheme was elegant and flirtatious, which is what was intended for this beauty and fashion blog. I used
the type tool, ink tool, and rectangle tool to create this logo. I then, continued to shade an example of
the logo in black and white and create a third example of the logo with a light pink color as
the background.
