1980 June The kids ages were 4 years and 2 years Two parents and two children crossed Crossed at Texas border No other people crossed at the border with them ( they didnt have enough money to buy a coyote) 7. Amarillo TX was destination ( was undocumented until Reagan passed the Amnesty Act for undocumented people) 8. No border walls when crossing. There are still no border walls at the part they crossed just the Rio Grande. 9. Found out where to cross from his husband. ( Husband was there months before establishing himself and then came to get the family) 10.Only took the children with her when crossing and a change of clothes ( important documents e.g. ID and shot records) 11.Didnt have plan before hand to cross just decided to cross when husband wanted her to come over to the U.S. 12.Came from central Mexico to border town when she was 12 years old and entered middle school. ( travel through train inside) 13.Use to be a passenger train that traveled from the border to Aguas Calientes 14.Traveled with most of her clothes and important documents as well from leaving central Mexico 15.Crossing the river the water was waist high because of the use of the river for irrigation 16.Saw other people cross before her journey 17.Most at time crossing she viewed were either children or around their 20s40s 18.There wasnt much violence at the time in border town ( could walk at midnight on the streets and nothing would happen) 19.Her parents had visas around 1989 ( she applied for them when she became a resident 1990) 20.Describe your experience
