Communalism refers to existing communities that are often described negatively and have caused havoc throughout history by creating divisions. It exists in countries that claim to be secular but still promote communalism, like the world's largest democracy. Communalism targets religious minorities and has contributed to the development and continuation of terrorism. While India has made progress in the past 60 years since independence, completely eradicating communalism from its diverse society has been a complex task. Communalism can also lead to unemployment, economic imbalances, and communal riots when labor selection is based on religion. It hinders trade and ruins labor markets. India believes children should be educated about religions to choose freely rather than choose one over others.

ability to choose one thought over another.---WILLIAM JAMES
Communalism is a sheer term to describe any existing community at large. it is often connoted negatively and is widely used in the world; such that it is creating havoc since time immemorial. this is the key reason for many malpractices going on in the world. communalism is sheltered in several nations who simultaneously are claimants of being a secular state. an exemplar would be: the world's largest democracy, whose preamble houses the term 'secular' whilst depressingly boasts of commnalism throughout. kenya suggested , that the majority christian population targets the minority muslims, especially women and children to hassle them; which increases the rate of sexual harassment, trafickking etc. in the country. Communalism as we perceive today, has played a significant part in the development and continuance of terrorism in the world. The recent ISIS attack on France is a classic example of the same. Greece during the session, precisely pointed out that even after more than sixty years of Independence, India couldnt do much to eradicate the litters of communalism residing in its folds. To this, India defended itself stating that for a diverse country like itself, it is a complex task to formulate a Civil Procedure Code. Also, it affirmed that the preceding sixty years have observed a commendable progress. Brazil declared that selection of labour is done on the basis of religion, which leaves many unemployed. This leads to offsetting of the market, disbalance in the economy of the country and communal riots. Further, India avowed that communalism leads to hindrance of import and export, along with spoilage of labour market. As India couldnt have agreed more to the words of William James, wherein india stated that a child must be educated of Religion to choose for himself, and the child needn't choose one over another.
