JOB PURPOSE
Install, maintain and repair electrical machinery, equipment and electrical instruments
to ensure their efficient operation and reduce production down time.

2.

MAJOR ACTIVITIES & KEY RESULT AREAS


2.1

Be able to attend to all equipment breakdowns and planned maintenance


work with minimum direction and supervision.

2.2

Be able to receive, read and understand drawings and job instructions from
an immediate superior.

2.3

Be able to test, calibrate, fault find and diagnose failures on electrical


operating plant and equipment effectively.

2.4

Ensure that all maintenance work are carried out in accordance with the
safety procedures and plant operational requirements.

2.5

Monitor any repeated breakdown and takes appropriate action to resolve


the problem.

2.6

Initiate repair or replacement of worn out or failed components in a safe


manner.

2.7

Use the computerised maintenance system, order the spare parts from the
Warehouse and maintain records of all maintenance work completed.

2.8

Be able to receive, read and understand drawings and job instructions from
immediate superior.

TOOLS & EQUIPMENT


Must be familiar with all maintenance tools and electrical test equipment and
should have good knowledge of PCs.

JOB BACKGROUND
5.1

Typical Experience
The knowledge and experience required in the position is that gained
through previous experience working in Power Plant or equivalent heavy
industrial plant with exposure preferably in high voltage
electrical
environment.

5.2

Hardest part of the job


Working in a very hot, dirty environment.

5.3

Nature of guidance received


The job holder usually gets direction from his supervisor verbally or in
writing.

5.4

Special Features
Communicate with the Shift in charge in the absence of superiors.
