Humans and environment: An Eco-philosophical Approach and its Platform Principles

Modern material civilization- along with its progressive industrial machinery represents itself as an only acceptable model for the development and the prosperity
of humankind. However, application of its model and its constantly developing
technological apparatus, applied to all areas of the planet, has resulted in the
destruction of the natural environment and the extinction of many species. This
progressive civilization construes the natural environment as only a raw material to be
used to satisfy the ever increasing need of its people. This false need is best
characterized by such inflated desires whose satisfaction requires more and more
expenditure which are not really vital need but only demands.
If present humanity does not want to accept that industrial consumption model, which
is based on the premises of the modern sciences, furthermore if humanity really wants
to reorient the life on earth with the aim to prevent a possible environment crisis in the
future, what then, or in order worlds where to turn our face to find some solutions?
The aim of this paper is to present one alternative for this crisis in question by
introducing the so-called eco-philosophical approach, along with its application,
represented in its platform principles.
The term, eco-philosophy was first used by Professor Arne Naess in the 70s of the last
century, who elaborated the platform principles of this ecological movement.
