1. Project Introduction
- Computer Network is consisting of hardware and software. One of the hardware is
network cable that is one of important thing to connect the network. Over the time, the
technology has improved and one of the tools is cable tester to verify the connectivity between
networks. There are many kind of tester that available through the market and it also come with
an expensive price. This project purposely is to build a cheaper and affordable tool to test the
network and it is portable and acts like a portable computer that can do several things in order.
2. Project Objective
- The objectives are:
a. To develop a prototype that can test the network cable that can do
simultaneous features
b. To develop a kind of tool that is portable by using cheap hardware.
3. Project Problem Statement
- The limitation of the project:
a. Features that available is limit due to hardware capability
b. Need to bring a laptop to verify connectivity to the network or access to the
specific IP address in the network i.e.: Server
4. Project Scope Student 1
- To develop an Arduino based hardware that can test a network cable functionality
between the router to an end device such as computer or printer.
5. Project Expected Outcome
- A portable tool that can get an IP address, ping any IP address, do a basic port scan on
specific IP address and other features.
6. Hardware / software requirement (rough idea)
- Hardware: Laptop, Arduino Microcontroller, LCD, Ethernet Shield
- Software: Arduino Programmer, Java SDK

- University, Network Technician, IT Company
