Sparta School District is one of 16 New Jersey men arrested in a statewide child-pornography sweep, according to acting Attorney General Robert Lougy.
Eugene Triston, 55, of Stanhope, was relieved of
his duties on Feb. 10, immediately after the Sparta
district learned of his arrest that same day, a school
district representative told the Daily Record. She added that Triston was not a district employee, and that he
worked for Stanhope-based Byram Bus Line contracted to provide student-transportation services to the
district.
All of the 16 arrests were made between Feb. 10 and
March 31, according to Lougy.
A man answering the phone at Byram Bus Lines,
who did not give his name, said Triston no longer
worked for the company.
The Sparta School District later issued a statement, stressing that none of the allegations against
Triston involved any students from Sparta.
The school district took immediate action, contacting the contracted company to clearly indicate
that the individual should no longer service any Sparta students, according to Assistant Superintendent
Daniel R. Johnson. Additionally, the district sent
home communication regarding this incident to all involved community members. The individual in question was not a direct employee of the Sparta School
District, nor did he return to the district in any capacity once we learned of the allegations. The Sparta

MANCHESTER - They were the toast of Bogota High School in Bergen County. With heartthrob looks and the dance moves to match, Bob Berry and Marjorie Palmer jitterbugged the
night away at their senior prom in 1940. We were the class dancers, Bob said. You should
have seen her jitterbug. Marjorie laughed, adding, We could do everything. Then life
got in the way. The U.S entered World War II, and Bob went off to war in the Pacific. They lost

Both 95, having lost their spouses after decades of loving marriages, Bob and Marjorie are
back together. They live a few miles apart in Ocean County, go out to the movies and dinner, and
savor a second-chance romance that would make a fine Hollywood script. See LOVE, Page 5A

PEQUANNOCK - A 20-year-old biker was arrested

Wednesday after leading police on a high-speed chase
and posting a video of the pursuit on YouTube, police
said.
The arrest comes four months after a motorcyclist
later identified as Anthony Darrigo, 20, of Haskell
refused to stop for a patrol officer, Pequannock
Capt. Christopher DePuyt said.
At 3:11 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2015, Patrolman James Dericks observed a motorcycle traveling north on Route
23 on only its rear wheel, DePuyt said.
Dericks activated his emergency lights and sirens
to signal the driver to pull over, but Darrigo instead
sped up, DePuyt said.
Darrigo then proceeded to elude Dericks at a high
rate of speed, disregarding marked lanes of travel,
improperly passing vehicles and making an illegal Uturn at the Route 23 and Boulevard intersection before entering a residential section of Pompton Plains,
DePuyt said.
Additional officers from Pequannock and Riverdale joined the chase, attempting to apprehend Darrigo before the pursuit was terminated by supervisors,
DePuyt said.
Darrigo then fled onto Route 287 North, DePuyt
said.
