1. What is a demarc point?

Place where the authority of the networks between users and ISP
switch.
2. What is the significance of a demarc point?
Decides whos responsible for any network issues that may arise.
3. What is a Main Distribution Frame?
Place where all connections from the network come together.
4. What is an Intermediate Distribution Frame?
Similar to a MDF and connected to a MDF, an IDF lessens the clutter of
the MDF by connecting cables of a single floor together.
5. Why us an IDF?
Less cables are connected to an MDF.
6. In a conventional small network, where would you expect to find the MDF?
Server room.
7. If you had a network that covered five floors in a building, how many IDFs and
MDFs would you expect to have?
1 MDF and 4 IDFs
8. What purpose does an IDF serve?
Whole floors and areas can be connected to an MDF with less cables.
