Welcome to College Preparation! I am excited to be guiding you through the world of college planning,
selecting, applying, and pursuing. We will cover several different topics, such as finding the right school,
selecting the right program, searching for scholarships, and preparing an outstanding application. We
will also talk about the real life college experience, and what to actually expect. Through this course,
students will be able to explore post-secondary institutions around the world, and decide what fits their
wants and needs best.
Grading, Missing/Late Work, Absences:
We will follow the CCHS grading policy as stated in the handbook:
Missing work will follow school policy. If it is turned in a day late, you can receive up to 75% of the initial
points. If it is more than one day late, you will not receive credit. It is your responsibility to obtain any
notes or assignments that you were not present for.
The tardy and absence policies are outlined in the Student Family Handbook. I will follow all policies and
procedures. The important part of any absence is communication between the student and the teacher! If
you tell me what you need, we can work together to find a solution.
Electronic devices:
Electronic devices will be a key component of the college prep course! We will be doing a lot of research,
assessments, inventories, and writing on electronic devices. Because of this, it will be important to bring a
device to this class. If technology is being misused, I will follow the school handbook for disciplinary
consequences.
Cell phones and other electronic devices will NOT be allowed to be used during or after any assessments.
I want to give you the most beneficial experience for this course. It will help you prepare for your future.
