MUTATION

MUTATION IS
An alteration in DNA sequence.

Genes that are altered by the occurrence of mutations are

called mutant genes.

THE CAUSE OF MUTATION

a result of normal biological or chemical processes in the
organism
influence of extraneous factors
natural or artificial agents

INSERTION
An insertion changes the number of DNA bases in a gene by adding a
piece of DNA.
A deletion changes the number of DNA bases by removing a piece of DNA
