Human Resources / Professionalism and Ethics

Human Resources
My knowledge of performance management systems as it relates to performance based
evaluation, reward systems, disciplinary policies and procedures my knowledge is average. This
knowledge comes from my experience as a trainer and supervisory roles.
My knowledge of recruitment and selection techniques is average. During my time working at
Sinai Grace Hospital I was responsible for hiring for a very busy cardiologist with two locations
on at the Sinai Grace Professional Building and the other in Livonia.
In regards to my knowledge if staffing methodologies and productivity management is average I
am familiar with these methodologies through helping my grandfather run a business which
included staffing.
My knowledge of motivational techniques is above average and this knowledge comes from
leading, working, child rearing and just overall experiences in life.
My knowledge of compensation and benefits is average and also comes from leading, hiring
individuals and working with the Union.
Safety, security, and employee health issues as it relates to OSHA and workplace violence my
knowledge is average. Ive had many classes, trainings, and seminars and watched countless
videos on workplace safety and OSHA.
Professionalism and Ethics
My knowledge of the Hippocratic oath and the AMA is average, this knowledge comes mostly
from my schooling and working as a certified medical administrative assistant
My knowledge of patient rights and responsibilities is above average this knowledge come from
working as a certified medical administrative assistant and in the health insurance industry.
In regards to ethics committee roles, structure and functions my knowledge is above average and
this knowledge comes from a medical law and ethics class that I had the pleasure of taking.
As a person who is on the diversity and inclusion team, my knowledge of cultural and spiritual
diversity as it relates to healthcare needs is above average.
My knowledge of professional norms and behaviors is average. This knowledge does not come
from any formal training, but from experience in the professional world.

My knowledge of conflicts of interest situations as defined by organizational by laws, policies


and procedures is average and comes from countless hours of compliance training and testing; as
well as from being a certified medical administrative assistant.
My knowledge of consequences of unethical actions comes from my training and employment as
a certified medical administrative assistant.
When it comes to my knowledge of ethical implications of human subject research. My
knowledge is average. This knowledge comes from my obsession with the Henrietta Lacks story
and my training and education.
I think I surprised myself with this journal assessment I am comfortable with each topic. If I had
to pick the topics that I would like to learn more about, I would probably have to say staffing
methodologies and productivity management. In regards to staffing productivity and productivity
management my goal is to learn more than I know now. I will start my research over the summer
months starting in July 1. I will give myself until September. Each week I plan to learn
something new. By September 1 I would hope that my comfortability level has doubled.
