Overview

Materials

Children need to interact with literature. This book can


incorporate movement, creativity and comprehension into its
reading for understanding.

Objectives
1. Students will listen to a story about the primary colors
2. Students will recognize colors that blend to make other
colors
3. Students will create movement to accompany the ballet
of this book.
4. Students will learn the primary colors and what colors go
together to create other colors.

Activities/Procedures
1. Read the story with no musical additions
2. Place colored scarves around the room. Black and White
will flow through the group.
3. Practice moves with the scarves. Invite students to be
creative how they move together to create other colors.
4. Read the book again with students only moving when
they hear their color. Add the musical background to
encourage movement in a smooth/fluid motion.
5. Discuss what colors are primary and what colors are
created with those colors.
