Clinical skills: Enhanced assessment skills in cardiology, oncology, and nutrition support rotations at Union
Memorial Hospital culminating in staff relief managing up to 8-10 patients per day on multiple units. Completed
two weeks of outpatient diabetes training. Attained basic proficiency in EPIC and Meditech E.H.R. systems.
Taught nutrition class for cardiovascular rehabilitation patients post open heart surgery. Provided nutrition
education on diabetes, heart disease, chronic kidney disease, and other illnesses during 10 weeks in acute care
rotation.
Community: Developed entry-level based individual and group education presentations for populations at SNAPED, Aging, and Wellness rotations. Created online and paper education materials for low-literacy individuals
during Campus dining, Wellness, and Food bank rotations. Administered 2-3 in-home and 5+ phone call nutrition
assessments to clients in a community nutrition program.
Information Technology: Posted blogs on the internship website and during technology rotations. Demonstrated
proficiency in web page design, web-based technologies (web-conferencing, scheduling software, survey/
registration tools) and social media marketing tools (Facebook, blog, twitter). Developed marketing video during
one food service rotation and employee wellness training tools during second food service rotation. Launched a
webinar for wellness rotation about Building a Better Smoothie.
Team and presentation skills: Invited as a speaker at Maryland Dietitians in Health Care Communities
(MDHCC) for Spring 2016 Workshop for 140+ RDs. Selected for abstract-poster presentation at MDHCC and
District of Columbia Dietetic association meeting; abstract entitled Designing a Quality Assurance Survey
Specific to Services and Clientele: What One Intern Learned. Completed restaurant theme meal with internship
partner for 100 residents.
