FRANCOIS BROWNE, EVANGEL

Levermann challenged her team with an incredibly difficult non-district

schedule and guided it to a 26-1-1 record, good enough for the top seed in
Division I. The veteran coach finally returned to the state title game 20 years
after her first appearance, even though Byrd fell just short of its ultimate goal
with a 2-1 loss to Mt. Carmel.

Just three years after starting the program, Brownes ability to develop players
resulted in its first district title and playoff win, an emphatic 5-2 rout of St.
Martins Episcopal. Almost the entire lineup and all the key players should return
next year, so look for Browne to take the Eagles (8-9-3) even higher.
