Miskin Theatre Assignment

2nd Year National Diploma in Music Technology

The Brief

This project requires you to create 2 remixes for the purposes of marketing a project/ original recording. You will ensure these
marketing tools are fit for purpose in terms of genre and are capable of attracting an audience. This assignment goes hand in hand
with preparing for your FMP. First you must CHOOSE A PREFERRED GENRE, IDEALLY THE STYLE IN WHICH YOU WILL
WORK DURING YOUR FMP.. ie; Pop, alternative, RnB, Hip Hop, Metal etc..
Then, you will;
(i)

(ii)

(iii)

Produce 2 REMIXES (cover versions may also be considered) in the style of your PREFERRED GENRE, 1 of
which can be of the Daft Punk mix. You may use external musicians should you require assistance. You
can work in groups or individually. If you work in groups you can deliver one group remix, but you will
need to provide one additional remix per person.
Ensure you chose material from AS FAR outside your chosen genre as possible; you should then incorporate
stylistic elements consistent with your preferred style. Your two finished mixes should closely match in
terms of sound.
Post both tracks on your Private Tumblr and explain in a minimum of 1000 words how your remixes could
be used to attract traffic and profile to original recordings.

Tasks:
1. Produce 2 Remixes which evidence tangible stylistic change (Unit 17 GC2 & 3)
2. Provide a written piece (1000 words) explaining how a remix can be used as a marketing device (Unit 17 GC1 & 2)
Grading Criteria: Pass, merit and distinction are attainable. Evidence MP3, Tutor Observation
