INTRODUCE:OVERVIEW
The students will:
Develop an understanding of the positive aspects of online talking and
messaging.
Identify situations in which flirting online becomes inappropriate
Distinguish between personal information and private information.
The students will:
1. Produce a PowerPoint
2. Write a 1-page Essay
3. Create a Webquest

INTRODUCE: ESSENTIAL QUESTIONS


What do you already know about what information is safe to share online and
whats risky?
What are examples of information that is safe to share online and what are
examples of information that is risky to share online?
What would you like to know about talking online?
What are some warning signs of unsafe communication when messaging online?

CONNECT: ASSESSMENT
Students will:
Produce a PowerPoint presentation over cyber safety
Write a one-page essay over cyber safety and what information is safe to share
online and what information is not safe to share online.
Create a Webquest with 6 different internet links.
Rubrics will be provided for these assignments

CONNECT: RESOURCES (DIGITAL)


1. Students will use Google Search engine or Google Chrome
2. Use the Library database
3. Use links from their Webquest they created

CONNECT: INSTRUCTIONAL PLANPREPARATION


Students will need:
Basic knowledge to navigate internet
Create PowerPoint
Create Webquests
Teacher will:
Ask questions about what students already know
Provide students with videos and resources about cyber safety
Show students how to navigate their PowerPoints and Webquests.
Some students may have difficulty with the technology and how to navigate resources.

Students will work:
in the school computer lab
at home on their own time
in groups of 3 to 4
individually

The teacher will demonstrate how to:
create a PowerPoint and Webquest
navigate the resources that are provided
The teacher will assign the students their groups and their role will be to work together
and share ideas over cyber safety. The teacher's role is to observe and help the students

The students will have the ability to choose different templates for their
PowerPoints
A student who excels with technology will be placed in each group, for additional
help
Multiple forms of instructions including online and in class will be provided
Students will be allowed to research more information, if they would like

& REFLECTION
The students will present their PowerPoint, Webquest and one page essay to the
class.
The students will write a one page reflection.
The teacher will reflect and observe the students while they present to the class
and make changes where I see they are needed.
