In what way can tanning bed be beneficial to ones health?


Although we always here all of these negative things about artificial tanning and laying
out in the sun for long periods of time is it possible that tanning bed could also be beneficial to
our health? Having worked in a tanning salon for the past year and a half and spending the
majority of my spare time out in the sun, the safety of tanning and artificial tanning tends to
spark my interest. Im sure people have told you over and over that tanning bed are bad for you
and you should avoid too much sun exposure as much as possible. There are many things that
come into play when it comes to tanning, how long, where you are, if you are using any lotion or
sunscreen, and what race you are. You also have to take into consideration how the person is
tanning. Are they tanning outside in the natural sun? Are they tanning in a tanning bed with
ultra violent light? Or are they spray tanning? All of these types of tanning have a different long
term effect on the skin. Some people will argue that tanning outside in the natural sun is much
better for you then tanning in a tanning bed while others will say you should not do either and
you should just spray tan to maintain a tan skin color. Most of the time when people tan outside
they spend hours out in the sun and sometimes even all day if possible. In a tanning bed there is
maximum number of minutes that you are able to tan for. The times differs from bed to bed but
some bed let you lay up to twenty minutes. There are lots of things to consider when using a
ultra violent tanning bed as well such as; what level bed you are laying in, skin care, how many
times a week, and how long you go in for.

Another thing that is a major concern with tanning bed is eye care. Most people do not
think anything about putting a pair of sunglasses on when you walk outside to a bright sunny
day, but, eye protection is even more important when you use an indoor tanning bed. There are
eye goggles that are provided in every tanning salon for tanners to use and yes, they may look
funny or leave you with a raccoon like tan line around your eyes but that is a chance you should
be willing to take to save your eyesight. All tanning bed are know for the ultra violet rays and
just by simply closing your eyes while tanning in a bed is not enough to protect your eyes from
the intense exposure that they will receive while in the tanning bed. A constant exposure to the
ultra violent light to the eyes can cause photokeratitis a sunburn on your cornea, cataracts,
skin cancer around the eye, macular decline as well as corneal infections and conjunctivitis.
People tend to not think anything about these things while not using eye protection in the bed but
the affects also don't typically occur until many years later.

There have been many different studies that show that ultra violent light can help with
anxiety and depression or the wintertime blues as some people call it. In this way the tanning
beds are almost being used as a light therapy effect. Sometimes people become very depressed
during the colder seasons because they cant be in the sun and outside where the majority of the
people are happy. Vitamin D is necessary for some people during the colder months. They are

also helpful for many different skin conditions such as eczema because the ultra violent light
would help dry out the rash. It can also be used the same way to dry out acne. There are still
some doctors out there that prescribe tanning despite the risks. Some OB/GYN doctors will
prescribe a patient to tan if they are having bad cramps to ease the pain. Although there is still a
great risk for tanning it is not all that bad. It has some great health benefit that can cheaper and
sometimes better then pumping a lot of antibiotics and prescription pills into your system. You
should not beat down the thought of tanning in a tanning bed just because someone told you that
you were going to get skin cancer one day, think about your bodies needs and how the effect of
the tanning bed could be a benefit to your health.

tanning.
This research is arguable because some people have a very strong opinion on how
tanning bed are only bad for you and they could not benefit you at all. While some people have
been prescribed tanning for either physical or mental health reasons. All of the sources that I
don't necessarily say tanning isn't bad for you but they do state there are certain things that
tanning can benefit related to health reasons.Theses different perspectives down really persuade
my opinion on tanning that much but it does make me more aware of things such as always
wearing my eye goggles.I think that my research questions is pretty good it isn't too broad but i
could narrow it down to talk about a specific type of health benefit.
