1. Describe the context in which these artifacts were collected and identify the standard and
competency(s) the artifact represents.

The artifacts chosen for standard 9, classroom management were collected through my
classroom management course through Graceland University. The competencies that I will be
addressing with the artifacts are 1, apply effective classroom management strategies as
demonstrated in classroom guidance and large group guidance lessons; and 2, consult with
teachers and parents about effective classroom management and behavior management
strategies.
The classroom management certificate was obtained after successful completion of graduate
level classroom management course through Graceland University. This artifact addresses
competencies 1 and 2.

competencies 1 and 2.
2. What do they demonstrate to you about your learning and mastery of the competencies which
fall under this standard?
I believe that both of these artifacts represent my knowledge and skill in the area of classroom
management. The classroom management action plan shows my ability to plan and implement
classroom management in the school counseling setting. The Certificate shows that I was
successful and completing a classroom management action plan.
3. What do these items of evidence tell you about your overall progress toward your personal
goals and your growth as a professional school counselor?
I chose this standard for an area of growth because of my lack of experience in the classroom. I
have learned a great deal about classroom management and it importance and understand why
managing a classroom can and does affect the learning by the students. Throughout my
practicum I learned many classroom management skills and was able to implement several of
these skills during my time at the school. I know that I still have room for growth in this area but
have already made great growth and plan to continue growing in this area
4. What are your plans for additional growth or improvement in this area?
My plans for additional growth in the area of standard 9 are to continue to seek out professional
development opportunities. I plan on observing teachers and students in their classrooms to know
and understand what works best for those classrooms and those students. I will also continue to
make up to date action plans and revise them as needed.
