1. How many articles of faith are there and what are they?
The six articles of faith are Unity or Oneness of Allah,
belief in angels, belief in the four revealed books,
belief in the prophets, belief in life after death and
belief in pre-destination and decree.
2. Where are these Articles of Faith stated?
The Articles of Faith are stated in the Iman-e-Mufassal
3. Briefly describe Tauhid.
Tauhid is the belief in the unity or oneness of Allah. It
is the first and main principle of Islamic Faith. It means
that Allah is the Supreme Being, the Creator, Sustainer,
and Master of the universe.
4. In which Surah has the greatest emphasis been laid on Allahs
absolute Unity and Oneness?
Surah Ikhlas has laid the greatest emphasis on this.
5. What is the biggest sin in Islam?
The biggest sin in Islam is Shirk.
6. Describe the biggest sin in Islam?
Associating partners with Allah is called Shirk. It is the
worship of idols, and offering prayers and supplications
to anyone other than Allah. It is an unpardonable sin. It
is the only unpardonable sin.
7. What did the non-believers believe angels to be?
The non-believers believed that angels were deities,
and the sons and daughters of Allah.
8. Do the angels have greater knowledge than men? How do we
know this?
Men have greater knowledge than angels. We know
this because on the very first day of Adams creation
Allah told the angels to prostrate before Adam and
granted him greater knowledge than they possessed.
9. Which angel brought down revelations to the Holy Prophet?
Hazrat Jibrail brought revelations to the Prophet.

How do angels serve Allah?
The angels are absolutely obedient to Allahs command
and are engaged in worship and service to Him. They
are sent to protect men, to administer Allahs
punishments, to carry His messages and to perform
various other functions.

What are the angels various functions and duties?
They act as Allahs messengers, but do not descent
except by Allahs command. They strengthen the
hearts of righteous believers and are their protectors.
They send blessing on the believers and implore
forgiveness for them.

Which angels rule over heaven and hell respectively?
Rizwan rules over heaven while Malik rules over hell.

Name the four prominent angels.

The four prominent angels are Hazrat Jibrael, Izrael,
Israfil, and Mikail.

What are their duties?
The duty of Hazrat Jibrael is to be the chief among the
angels. Hazrat Izrael is responsible for taking our souls
upon death, hence the name angel of death. Hazrat
Israfil will blow the trumpet at the time of the end of
the world. Hazrat Mikail is charged to look after the
universe, movement of stars, planets and galaxies.

Name two other prominent angels and their duties.
Two other angels are Munkir and Nakir who will
question the dead in their graves.

Where is the guidance that human beings need?
The guidance is contained in the books of revelation
sent to manking through prophets and messengers.

What is revelation?
It is the name given to the means of communication
employed by Allah for conveying His command and
messages to prophets and apostles. Revelation is not
due to prophets own thoughts. It is a special gift from
Allah.

to the Holy Prophet.

to live and tackle certain problems that arose during
their times.

Allah himself promised to protect the Quran from

The Holy Quran is unchanged throughout history and it
is a book for all mankind. It is not only for one nation.

Nabi means prophet or one who is very near to Allah
through the total surrender of his entire being to Him

and who receives revelations from Him, which serve as
a source of guidance for men.

What classifies a Nabi as a Rasul?
If the revelation is in the form of a scripture, the
prophet is then a messenger or a Rasul.

What are the characteristics of a prophet?
He is absolutely truthful, free of all sins, delivers the
messages from Allah without any omission or
concealment and, has the highest order of intelligence
and mental ability. All of these prophets were men,
had wives, and were mortal.

What is Al-Akhirah?
Al-Akhirah is the word used in the Quran to indicate life
after death. This belief consists of believing in the Day
of Judgment, bodily resurrection, and Heaven and Hell.

The Arabic word for destiny is Qadr and it implies the
measuring out of something or fixing a limit to it.

What is predestination?
Predestination is the belief in destiny. It is the belief
that all the things that will happen in your life are
written and known to Allah, but humans don't have
access to this. The human being acts in accordance
with a desire from within which makes him responsible
for his deeds and he is then happy or unhappy.
