Floor Plan Instructions

Setup: Units are to be set to Architectural with a precision of 1/16. The Annotation Scale is to be set to
1/4=1'-0
Stage 1:
Draw the walls. Exterior walls are to be drawn as brick veneer, ten inches thick with a starting from the
outside, four inches representing brick, one inch air gap, and five inches stud wall. Interior walls should be
drawn as five inches. Create an AutoCAD layer named Walls. The layer is to be color green. The walls
colors are to be Bylayer with the exception of the air gap which is to be yellow. Save the floor plan on the
instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to scale on an A Size sheet when the walls are complete.
Stage 2:
Draw the doors. Create an AutoCAD layer named Doors. This layer is to be color yellow. The doors
colors are to be Bylayer. Use door symbols acceptable to your instructor. Door sizes widths are to be assigned
by your instructor. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to scale on an A Size
sheet when the doors are complete.
Stage 3:
Draw the windows. Create an AutoCAD layer named Windows. This layer is to be color yellow. The
windows colors are to be Bylayer. Use window symbols acceptable to your instructor. Window sizes widths
are to be assigned by your instructor. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to
scale on an A Size sheet when the windows are complete.
Stage 4:
Draw the Kitchen. Create an AutoCAD layer named Kitchen. This layer is to be color yellow.
Kitchen appliances and cabinets are to be Bylayer. Wall cabinets are be drawn with a Hidden2 linetype.
Appliances from the Design Center may be used. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor
plan not to scale on an A Size sheet when the Kitchen is complete.
Stage 5: Draw the Bathrooms. Create an AutoCAD layer named Bath. This layer is to be yellow. Bathroom
fixtures colors to be Bylayer. Fixtures from the Design Center may be used. A Vanity with a sink in it is to be
used for the bathrooms. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to scale on an A
Size sheet when the bathrooms are complete.
Stage 6:
Draw the Closets. Create an AutoCAD layer named Closets. This layer is to be color yellow. The
closets are to be color Bylayer. The closet shelf is to be a continuous line offset twelve inches from the rear of
the closet. The rod is to be a Hidden2 linetype and to be offset two inches away from the shelf line toward the
rear of the closet. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to scale on an A Size
sheet when the closets are complete.
Stage 7:
Draw the Brick hatch. Create an AutoCAD layer named Brick. This layer is to be color red. The
brick hatch is to be color Bylayer. Draw the brick hatch using the ANSI 31 pattern making it an
Annotative hatch pattern. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the floor plan not to scale on
an A Size sheet when the brick hatch is complete.
Stage 8:
Draw the Annotation. Create an AutoCAD layer named Annotation. This layer is to be red.
Annotation includes exterior dimensions, interior dimensions, room names, and the title located below the floor
plan. Dimensions are to be Bylayer. Refer to instructor for desired floor plan dimensions layout, text style
setup, dimension style setup, and leader lines style setup. Room names are to be color green and 3/16 high.
The title will consist of the word FLOOR PLAN which is to be color cyan and 1/4 high and the scale ratio of
the plan. Refer to instructor for the layout of the title. Save the floor plan on the instructor's media and plot the
