MTS Middle School is a learning community that bases

all instructional decisions on its students' academic


and personal growth. Our goal is to prepare students
for high school, college and careers by raising core
academic skill levels through differentiated instruction
across all subjects.

L.I.N.K.S - Advisory Program


The LINKS curriculum is designed to bridge
the gap between what is taught in the core
curriculum and the skills necessary for
success in school, post-secondary education
and the work place by addressing six major
skills areas:
School Success Skills
Academic Planning
Career Exploration
Post-Secondary Planning
Interpersonal/Life Skills
Work Ethic

27% of our students fail to graduate; approximately 3,800 WV students


drop out of high school each year.
Nearly 7,000 youth appear before a judge or probation officer every
year.
Only 73 of every 100 9th graders in West Virginia earn a high school
diploma.
Only 15 of these graduates earn a four year degree within six years of
graduation.
Over 14,000 school-age youth are not in school and not working
West Virginia employers report that West Virginia graduates do not
have adequate work place readiness skills and are not prepared for
success in the workforce.
Post Secondary Institutions and data shows that West Virginia
students are not prepared for post-secondary success.
West Virginia has the highest out-migration and the lowest inmigration in the nation.
West Virginia is #1 state in prescription drug use and is increasing in
use of illegal drugs annually.
Students need skills and knowledge to help them successfully
navigate middle and high school and to be prepared for success as
21st Century citizens and the workforce.
