Stepping Forward
Dear Coca-Cola,

Today America has progressed into an accepting forward country dedicated to
giving all people the freedom to live however they chose under one bright flag.
Promising an endless array of opportunities with welcoming arms has pushed America
to becoming on of the most widely know symbols and force for freedom and equality.
These values are what makes America such an amazing place to live. The CocaCola
company showed through its representation of America that it too holds these values
to be its own and an important part of the american life. The CocaCola company and
its commercial both express good american values that show clearly what America
means to the world and what America believes in.

After years of suppression and being controlled in 1776 the founding fathers of
America declared their independence from Britain and all of its tyranny. They promised
for an equal country that valued freedom and equal opportunities. On January 31, 1865
America passed the thirteenth amendment promising for equality and a free nation.
On December seventh 1941 America enters WWII declaring they could no longer stand
idly by as inequality and oppression occur. Its clear from history that american values
are something we hold proudly to ourselves. Since the day it was created America has
been eager to show that they stand for impartiality and freedom despite your race,
gender, or beliefs. The CocaCola commercial stands for those same values showing
how America is free to all who want to live here. Fist the commercial shows that despite
who you are you are free to join in America the Beautiful with fellow americans.
Secondly it shows how other americans are gladly accepting these new people and
embrace their differences all while under the american flag. So why would anyone want
to disagree with these statements?

Well it is conceivable that some find it offensive that the song is sung in
languages other than english. Yet over forty percent of americans speak another
language than english on a day to day basis. And over sixty-five percent of americans
learned or are learning a second language besides english. In addition to all of these
bilingual americans there are over three-hundred and twenty languages spoken in the
great melting pot. Thats more than there are syllables in the song America the
Beautiful. How could such a diverse accepting people become outraged over the
commercial when our country was built with open arms to the world? The words that
lie defiant on the statue of liberty say "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled
masses yearning to breathe free..., not Give me your white heterosexual males... Have
they forgotten that almost all of us descend from immigrants who once stood in line
hat-in-hand at Ellis island awaiting to be given the right to proudly call themselves
americans? Have they forgotten the proud tag that protrudes on every american that
says they will be accepting and open in the heterogenous fusion that is America? Have
they failed to remember the many quarrels that weve endured for the honorable

privilege to wave the golden and glittering american flag as we continue out fight for
freedom and equality?

In conclusion America has proudly proven that they fight for these noble values
like fairness, rights, and tolerance. Every american big or small, white or black,
Mexican, or Chinese should stand up in support of these causes in the fight for
equality. And CocaCola and their add defiantly show how America has greatly achieved
this diverse nation that also fight for these values and celebrates thats diverse nation
through song. CocaCola has shown itself to be another one of these proud citizens in
the fight for equality.
