The difference between news report and editorial

A news report is like an inverted pyramid. It goes from general to particular, summary to
expansion.
In a news report we have fact while the editorial is more philosophical.
The editorial is a commentary and an interpretation. Place an event into a wider context or
network of relationship and interprets the reality.
Editorials are not isolated commentary on an event-but a continuation and expression of the
process in which the newspaper is engaged. They involve connections to groups of people.
The editorials are not isolated commentary on an event, but a continuation and an expression of
the process in which newspaper is engaged.
The structure of editorial presents the case (introduction), the frame in which different issues are
defined.
So, the difference between a news report and an editorial consists in the difference between fact
and comments and evaluation.
