bars and the mechanical properties. The project is aimed to find out a relationship between the microstructure of the TMT bars the mechanical properties that are supplied by the manufacturers. The outer shell microstructure of tempered martensite has hardness that varies with carbon content and the inner core has a microstructure of ferrite pearlite whose percentages vary with amount of carbon present and the percentages of different alloying elements. This project aims to find out a direct relationship between these variables. Also corrosion properties with varying composition and microstructure is aimed to be evaluated so as to give a clearer picture about the use of these rebars. TMT samples of the same grades supplied by different manufacturers are required to obtain the required results.
