ASSIGNMENT
Goal

Based on a case study for an organization, conduct an analysis of learning and development (L&D)
needs that can be addressed through a plan that includes online learning.
Explain how the L&D needs relate to the organizations values and vision.

The intention of the assignment is to demonstrate your ability to identify the L&D needs of an organization
as they relate to the organizations current level of L&D maturity and potential for growth.

Consider yourself to be a consultant hired to assess your selected organization's current learning and
development needs and prepare a report that contains an analysis of those needs. Your starting point is
the case study that has already been conducted (Assignment 2). The purpose of this report is to serve as
the foundation for a proposal that you will make for improving enterprise learning for this organization
(Assignment 4). The needs analysis will NOT focus on the specific plan you will propose in your next
assignment; however, you should indicate in your analysis which needs have the potential to be met
through an online learning solution. Refer to readings and other sources to support your analysis.
For each L&D need you identify and describe, consider the following questions:
How does the need relate to the organizations values and vision?
Where does this need exist in the organization?
What kinds of employees are involved?
Why does this need exist?
What impact does this need have on the organizations mission, goals, and objectives?
What effect on the organization will there be if the need is not met?
What effect on the organization can we expect if the need is met?
In your introduction, provide a brief overview of the organization, including its mission, goals, objectives,
level of L&D maturity, etc. State briefly the nature of the needs you have identified and for which you will
provide a detailed analysis in the body of your report. In your conclusion, summarize the findings of your
analysis and the potential you see for addressing the L&D needs of the organization.
Format and length
Use your imagination and creativity to present your analysis, which may include text, diagrams,
graphics and illustrations.
Single spacing is acceptable.
There is no specific word limit for this assignment, but note that quality is more important than
quantity in word count.
