for a buffer zone in Eastern and Central Europe; the Soviets would declare war on
forabufferzoneinEasternandCentralEurope;theSovietswoulddeclarewaron
Japan;GermanyandAustriawouldbeoccupiedanddividedintofoursectors and
managedbythethreeconferenceparticipantsplusFrance;Germanywouldhave
topayreparations;andcountriessuchasEstoniaandLatviawereallowedto
remainunderSovietoccupation.Itwouldtakeanother44years beforethe
geopoliticsofEuropewastobefundamentallyalteredbythecollapseoftheEast
