Outline

Purpose: to raise awareness about what oniomania and kleptomania are to


encourage more research on the topic (specifically treatment) and reveal how they
lend themselves to materialism
Audience: avid shoppers/ those interested in the fashion industry/ teens
Essential Question: How do kleptomania and oniomania represent materialism and
how can we effectively treat them?
Thesis: Materialism is made more obvious by prominent behaviors of oniomania and
kleptomania, which stem from social, cultural, and psychological influences that can
be attempted to be remediated by medication and counseling.
