Gun Control
Many Americans have an irrational fear of guns and the effect that they have on
people. I believe that with
proper training and being aware of weapons capabilities
of the adverse ramifications that will happen if you are
oblivious of your surrounding. Everyone who owns a
gun should take a brief safety course to shed light on bad
gun control habits. The gun laws already set in place are
sufficient enough to filter out many potentially bad gun
owners, but should not be an increase in the regulations for
gun control.
Why should proper gun owners suffer more taxes
and regulations to buy more guns if they are lawabiding citizens?
Many Americans have been told by their parents or
loved ones that guns are evil and you should not own them. They are dangerous and will
kill you. This could not be more wrong, while guns can kill you; it is only when not
exercising proper techniques of handling your weapon. The people saying that guns are
evil and telling their children not to get experience with these weapons have most likely
never been in a situation where they wish they had a .45 on their hip. Most of these
people have never had a feral dog or wild animal charge them, but if they had a pistol or
firearm with them many unfortunate situations could have been stopped cold in their
tracks. Guns do not have a mind of their own, guns do not decide today they will murder
humans, only humans can do this. I have been around guns, rifles, shotguns, pistols, and
never have thought about killing another human that way because I was taught the value
of life at a young age. Guns are not evil, however, some people are but there are rotten
apples in every bunch and the vast majority of gun owners are decent people just looking
to exercise their second amendment. These hard working Americans should not have
more restrictions set on them, but rather left alone. As a U.S. citizen that looks forward to
having concealed carry once I turn twenty-one, I plan to fight for the right to bear arms
and not become more regulated. More regulation just increases the tax on buying
weapons and this only makes Americans suffer even more because of bunch of liberals
are trying to save the world by trying to control something that they do not fully
understand. You can do all the research in the world, but if you dont get out and shoot a
firearm, and truly understand that more regulations will not help stop murders, but rather
teaching children in schools at a young age how to handle a gun. To truly teach the youth
the real meaning of life rather than just numbers and letters, but life lessons that will
benefit them more in the long run. As Samuel L. Jackson said, I dont think its about
more gun control. I grew up in the South with guns everywhere and we never shot
anyone. This (shooting) is about people who arent taught the value of life. This quote
moves me more than words can explain because it just reinforces the truth that guns are
not evil, it is people that pull the trigger, and more regulations will not save lives. The

way to stop shootings is raising your sons and daughters right, so that they understand
what the meaning of life is, and not take it for granted and pull a trigger that will forever
alter other lives.
U.S. citizens are always talking about protecting their rights. A sure fire way is to
have the right to bear arms. If you think that the government will protect you in every
little situation just look at the past, after all the past
is
the best way to predict the future. The reason that
people had fled from England and Great Britain is
because their rights were being undermined and wanted the
freedom to practice any religion.
They did not want to be controlled
and told what they could or could not own, such as
firearms, but they wanted to be free of
tyranny. The colonies had finally had
enough of being over taxed and
control by a king over three
thousand miles away that did not see
what they needed done and how
hard it was to survive there. So we
revolted, Americans had a hard time
trying to fight back with just
legislative papers and documents
that
were being ripped up once the king had
read them. He was then out raged and set more
laws and taxes on the
colonies. Trying to acquire weapons to fight back
against the red coats was perhaps one of the harder tasks for the majority of the
population. Our founding fathers saw this exact situation happening again in the future
and put the right to bear arms in our bill of rights. The U.S. government does not care if
you like the laws that they impose most of the politicians do not get elected to do right by
the people, but rather for the title and
benefits that come with it. If the
government is able to take away our
right to bear arms it will be much
easier to control the population
without revolt. However this is a very
unlikely situation, the more reasonable
expectation would be putting laws on
guns making it harder and harder to buy firearms. Once again it is not guns that kill
people, it was the improper way they learned to handle a weapon.
As one of the luckiest and more fortunate countries in this world we have the right
to bear arms. Other countries have allowed their citizens to own guns, but then banned
them. After guns were banned in Great Britain there was a major increase in handgun
homicide rates. The graph to the right shows that even once guns have been banned it is
most certainly possible for you to acquire and use them on now unprotected populations.
If they had not banned guns then citizens who owned handguns or some type of firearms
would have been able to stop these mass killings before they had become so devastating.

Now, I am not saying that allowing everyone to open, or conceal carry will stop gun
related crimes. No, but if you notice and realize that everyone around you is packin, or
carrying a firearm you would think twice about pulling yours out and just start picking
off people in the crowd. I
believe that teachers should
become certified with
firearms and should be able to carry
them while teaching,
however you would need to
routinely do psychological
checks every six months or
so. There would be a couple
of crazy teachers that would
pass the test, but this is
expected there are flaws in
every program, but if all, or
some of the teachers on the
hall had pistols once a shooting
occurred they would be able to stop the
murderer from killing many more children then they would be able to if guns were not in
schools. Back to the main point once other countries started banning handguns they all
had an increase in handgun related homicides. There is always a way to smuggle a gun
into a country and I would much rather have my side arm on me than just assume that
everyone was a nice and sane person that wouldnt put a bullet in my head for
disagreeing with their opinion.
The right way to improve everyones life is not to infringe upon the right to bear
arms, but to instill proper and the correct way to value a life. The best thing we can do is
teach our children to understand the consequences of taking someones life. There will
always being killing in the human race and to think that you can stop this is beyond
ludicrous because no matter if we have a gun, or our fists and knifes we would, if we
truly wanted too, end anothers life. People say now, what if he did not have that gun,
or what if there were more regulations on firearms. This is irrelevant because once we
ban guns someone would go into a school with a knife and stab students and kill them
that way, or stab someone to death on the side of the street. Then people would say,
Man, if he didnt have that one blade. The fact that we as a human race think that the
weapon is responsible for the murders is baffling to me because it is in no way the
weapons fault, rather the welder of that object. To quote a great man, Teddy Roosevelt,
Speak softly and carry a big stick; you will go far. Would you rather put your life on
good faith that someone else would follow the gun ban and not own firearms, or be one
hundred percent sure that you were covered and carry one in your pocket?

1.While writing this paper I hoped to sway someones thoughts on owing or making laws
on gun owning. People need to realize it isnt firearms that are the bad thing it is an
inanimate object, but rather the people not being raised correctly.
2.One thing I really enjoy about my paper is that I have a picture of Samuel L. Jackson
and his quote pertaining to firearms. Another thing I like about my paper is that firearms
and this is a very passionate subject to me. It brightens my day when I am able to get my
point across and shed light on subjects that people think are evil.
3.I would very much like help with commas because my commas skills are not up to par.
Also I would really enjoy help with revising and rereading my paper, not that I cant but
just motivating to help me do it.
