Keith Tyner
"Cyberbullying." Berkeley Technology Law Journal 24.1 (2009): 659-660. Computer Source.
Web. 19 Mar. 2016.
This article was about what one mom was able to do to another little girl through social
media. This mom was able to make a fake account on a social media site and communicate with
this girl for several months. The communication between these two lead to the little girl to
committing suicide. And with some of the laws that were in place at the time she was almost able
to get away with it.
This article was written in 2009 and has not been up dated. This article is important to my
paper, it shows how easy it is to still bully people. And now after some trouble with it there is a
law against it in one place. This article was written by someone in a law journal so they will
know what they are talking about. There was a lot of good information in the article that I can
use in my paper to get a good point across.

Healy, Jane M. Failure to Connect: How Computers Affect Our Children's Minds--for Better
and Worse. New York: Simon & Schuster, 1998. Print
This book is about how with all this new technology coming out how it is making it
easier for people to disconnect from the world. That people are becoming less and less social and
that putting computers in the classroom isnt as good as one might think. That putting a computer
in the classroom may not be as good as one thinks. It could be harming instead of helping

Tyner 2
because it is allowing kids to disconnect from what is going on in the classroom. It is giving
them the freedom to be able to explore new things that they probably arent supposed too.
This book was written in 1998 but the age of the book does not matter. The information that
is in this book will help me to show that technology is making people less social. The author of
the book has a PhD so she is very credible. The information that she gathered is very accurate
and even truer now than it was then. This book was written to inform parents about the dangers
of technology in the classroom. It will allow me to show that if you put a computer in a
classroom that the students will probably do other things on it that you dont want them to be
doing.

"Chapter 7: Science and Technology: Public Attitudes and Understanding - Public

Knowledge about S&T." Chapter 7: Science and Technology: Public Attitudes and
Understanding - Public Knowledge about S&T. National Science Board, May 2004. Web. 19
Mar. 2016. <http://www.nsf.gov/statistics/seind04/c7/c7s2.htm#sb2>.
This site was all about how much people dont know about some of the simplest things. it
showed a lot of data about things that people dont know about. That there are these scientific
methods that people dont know about. And then it went on to talk about technology literacy and
how people arent. People can tell one very little about some technology. That they dont know
about how things really work or what they really do.
This cite was created in 2004 for on a study that the government did. This was done by the
government so I think that it is very reliable. It shows how much about science and technology

Tyner 3
people in the USA dont know. This was written by the national science board. This will be very
good for my paper because I can use it to show how much people really dont know about the
things that they use every day and that they take for granted. It was written so that people could
see just how much the rest of the world really doesnt know.
Levitt, B. Blake, and Henry Lai. "Biological Effects From Exposure To Electromagnetic
Radiation Emitted By Cell Tower Base Stations And Other Antenna Arrays."
Environmental Reviews 18.1 (2010): 369-395. Computer Source. Web. 19 Mar. 2016.
This article was about how cell towers and radio towers are effecting people. But not just
how they are effecting people but what they are doing to people at a cellular level. It talked about
the difference between long term and short term exposure to these frequencies. They talked about
how when companies would do experiments they would do them for only a few minutes or
several hours. But that some people get that exposure for several days or months. Then they went
on to say all of the things that this kind of exposure could cause to people.
This article was written in 2010 and has not been updated. This article will be very important
to my paper because it talks about all the negative effects that cell phones can have on us. And
the two people that wrote this article are highly qualified to be talking about this kind of stuff.
They either have a PhD or their Doctorate. This is very good information with a lot of
information to back it up every step of the way. This information is out there to inform people
about some of the health concerns that are being caused by something that they probably use
every day.

Jade Valenzuela, Hannah Burran. "How Is Technology Affecting Our Society?"
RJtoday.org. RJtoday, 24 May 2014. Web. 19 Mar. 2016. http://rjtoday.org/2829/opinions/istechnology-affecting-our-society/
This site was about the effects that technology has on children and that things that it is
causing. It talked about how much time kids spent doing homework vs playing a game or on
some sort of technology. It also talked about that kids that played violent video games were more
likely to become bullies. It talked about how technology is changing who we are and the things
that we do. And that technology is making us less social people. Now people want to have their
face buried in their phone rather than talking to someone or having an actual conversation.
This was written in 2014 and it has not been updated. It will be important to my paper. It
will allow me to show what people of all age groups do with technology like their phones and
tablets. This was written by a girl who may not have been too qualified to be doing this but her
research is very good. And it was written to show people what they do with their free time does
have some kind of an effect. This will be a really good to show the ways that technology is
effecting us in ways that people dont notice. It allows us to be in our own little bubble and just
stay hidden in there.

Maurer, Hermann. "Does The Internet Make Us Stupid?." Communications Of The ACM
58.1 (2015): 48-51. Computer Source. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.
This article talks about how we now dont even read things. Now we just skim over then
to get some of the information without bothering to get all of the information. He talks about

Tyner 5
how technology has led to people now being lazier and not being as active as they used to be.
And that all of this technology has made us less creative and ruined our imagination skills. That
we cannot come up with things on our own anymore so we us technology to do it for us.
This article was written in 2015 and will be very good for my paper. This will be a very
good article to use for my paper because all of the different things that it talks about. It will allow
me to show my audience that technology may seem like the greatest thing since sliced bread but
its got a lot of flaws behind it. It was written by someone that might not be that qualified to be
talking about this but the research that she did was very good and very well done. This was
written to show people about the effects that technology is having on us and that we are just
letting it happen and not doing anything about it.

Shih, Dong-Her, et al. "Exploring The Individual's Behavior On Self-Disclosure Online."

International Journal Of Human-Computer Interaction 28.10 (2012): 627-645. Computer
Source. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.
This article was about the things that people post on the internet and what can happen.
There are privacy settings but still once you post something online it will be online forever. And
everyone will be able to see it. And they did a study on how technology and psychology effect
privacy concerns about things that are done on the internet. They did a lot of research about selfdisclosure online and how it is effected by people.
This article will be a very good one for me to use. It will allow me to show people that
the things that they do online will be online forever and that almost anyone will be able to see it

Tyner 6
in no time at all. That things that get put online are no longer personal they are out there for the
world to see. And that personal behavior will also dictate how you set your privacy settings. This
was an article that was very well done and the group of people that did it were all very qualified
to be talking about this stuff.

Guo, Richard M. "Stranger Danger And The Online Social Network." Berkeley Technology
Law Journal 23.1 (2008): 617-644. Computer Source. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.
This article was about how easy it is to create a fake account on any social media site.
Then once that person has created the fake account how easy it is to get to know people. Then
once this fake account has gotten to know people they can try to meet up with someone and that
person will get a surprise. Because it wont be the person that they think it was and they will
most likely try to kidnap that person or so many other things that they could do.
This article was written in 2008, and since then there have just been more social media
sites to do this on. This will be a good article to use in my paper because I can use it to help show
the dangers of the internet. The article was written by some qualified people. And was very well
done and had a lot of very good information in it. This will be one of the most powerful articles
that I have because of how relatable it will be to everyone.

Broucek, Vlasti, and Paul Turner. "Intrusion Detection: Issues And Challenges In Evidence
Acquisition." International Review Of Law, Computers & Technology 18.2 (2004): 149-164.
Computer Source. Web. 20 Mar. 2016.
This article is about hacking thing. As technology is always changing and adapting to
new things. its still impossible to complete prevent something from being hacked. Everything
will always be hackable no matter how much people try to change that. Anything can get hacked
into like a cell phone or even a smart car. All of these thing can get hacked.
This article was written in 2004 and will be very important to the paper. I will use this to
show people that any technology that they have can get hacked and that people can be spying on
them and that they wouldnt even know it till it was too late. This article was very well written
by a group of people that knew what they were talking about. It was written to show people that
nothing is safe from a hacker. No matter what you have technology wise it can be hacked if
someone wants to.

Kurzweil, Ray. "Promise And Peril -- The Deeply Intertwined Poles Of 21St Century
Technology." Communications Of The ACM 44.3 (2001): 88-91. Computer Source. Web. 20 Mar.
2016.
This article was about the dangers of technology continuing to grow at they rate that it is.
Robots are a very real thing in the future and they will be able to do a lot of things. They will be
able to do them better than humans too. Robots are a dangerous this to deal with because they

Tyner 8
could take over the workplace very easily. Could do anything and they could do it for less than
humans.
This article was written in 2001 and the reality of robots being here is becoming very
real. In some professions and job robots are already a part of them. I will use this article to show
that technology is a limitless thing and it is capable of anything. It will soon be able to do any job
better than any person. This was a very well written article and will be very good for my paper.
The people that wrote this were very capable of doing this kind of paper.
