Thislessonwillutilizeanoriginalstorytodramatizethatdifferencesinphysicaltraitsdonotchange
importantcharacteristicsdealingwithfeelings,needs,worth,andqualitiesthatmakeuswhoweare.
Throughquestioning,summarization,andotheractivities,diversitywillbetreatedwithsensitivityto
developrespectfordifferences.Insciencethedifferencesbetweendeciduousandconifertreeswillbe
illustratedalongwiththeattributesofchangingseasons,cycles,andpartsofthetree.

mentaldifferences.
Kindergartenstudentsareatastagewheretheybegintobuildgroupethnicidentityaswellasindividual
identity.Theycanbegintoexploretheideasofrespectfordifferencesconsideredracial,ethnic,physical,
andcultural.
Kindergartenstudentsalsoaccepttheuseofcategoriesandseektoknowwheretheyfitwhenconsidering
similaritiesanddifferences.
