Ms. Cepedas First Grade Class

Our system of classroom behavior management is simple. I would like to explain
it to you here so that when you come into the classroom, you will easily be able to
read and understand the color chart. On a classroom chart, each student has a
pocket in which six color cards are kept. This chart will make students aware of
their behavior and help them to self- monitor.

Class Rules
1.
2.
3.
4.
5.

Students must follow school and classroom directions

Students must show respect and kindness to themselves and others
Students must keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves
Students must complete in class and homework assignments on time
Students will not bully or harass another student

Rationale
1. If school and classroom directions are not followed, students will not learn or
perform well on test and assessments.
2. If you treat others with respect, they will treat you with kindness. Positive minds
lead to successful learning.
3. When students keep hands, feet, and objects to themselves our lesson goes a
lot smoother and students are able to focus and learn.
4. Completing class assignments and homework assignments on time leads to
better grades
5. Being a bully is not cool or fun. Be a friend and encourage each other to reach
your full learning potential.

Consequences: The colors and what they represent:

** Blue- Super Citizen (Good behavior all day).
** Green- Verbal Warning
** Yellow- 5 minutes of time out.
** Orange- Loss of Super Friday
** Pink- Discipline Progress Report sent home (DPR) and parental contact
** Red- Office Referral and parental contact

Rewards
1. If a student remains on blue by following all rules everyday, they will earn 2
tickets daily to save or buy special items from our reward box, a positive phone
call home, or save it, to cash in for any book listed on our book rewards.
Staying on blue will also give a student a chance to be the Super Star Of the
Week along with sitting at the Super Star desk.
2. If a student is on green, they will earn 1 ticket daily to save or buy special items
from our reward box, a positive phone call home, or save it to cash in for any
book listed on our book rewards.
3. If a student is on yellow, they will earn 1/2 a ticket daily to save or buy special
items from our reward box, a positive phone call home, or save it, to cash in for
any book listed on our book rewards.
4. Other rewards given through out the day will be positive affirmations.
With this system, I reinforce positive behavior and self-monitoring of ones
behavior. Please reinforce at home, that each child is responsible for his or her
own actions/behavior. Self- discipline is one of the best lessons a child can learn!

Sincerely,
Ms. Cepeda
