Instructional Strategies/Activities:

A goalie zone is marked on each side of the gym

Coaching Cues:

- Those in an arm cast may also
Each student will grab one sheet of paper from the
bag at a time. The ideal method is to stand students
play; toss or roll the ball if
in a straight line and have them grab a piece of
needed
paper out of the bag without looking. Do NOT allow
the students to trade papers, they are to go with the
team they draw.
Each team will volunteer two people from their
group to be the goalies.
The goalies will set up five bowling pins in their
goalie zone in any formation they choose.
The remaining students will get on their scooters
and three random people on each team will be given
a ball.
When the game starts each team will try to knock
down the pins in the opposing teams goalie zone.
No one may enter the goalie zones except the
goalies. All scooter riders must stay on the outside of
the box.
Goalies may block passes any way that they choose.
The only thing they cannot do is sit down in front of
it or lay on the ground. Goalies must stand.
Students must use an overhand pass technique to
pass the ball to their teammates and to try and
knock down pins.
The goalies must stay standing in their zones and try
to block balls from knocking over their pins.
Once a team knocks down all of the other teams
pins they score a point and the round is over.
Between rounds teams will need to pick a new
student to become goalie. Each student should be
goalie for only one round.
Once a team reaches three points, that team is declared the winner.
Remember that if a ball rolls away, a team member must go get it.
No one may stand up during game play (with the exception of the goalies).

INTERVENTION/EXTENSION

Modeling Content Expectations ( I do activities):

-I explain the activity
-I group with different colored slips of paper
Guided Practice (We do):
-We go over safety precautions
-We play the game to the best of our ability
Independent Practice (You do; may include
Homework):

-You work with your team to win the game

-You have fun

CLOSURE

Summarizing, Reminding, Reflecting, Restating, Connecting

-To make this game harder,

you can try only knocking
down one pin and having
more goalies to guard that
pin. You could also use
smaller balls to better work
on aim.
-In order to make it a little
more easy, allow students to
roll the ball to the pin or to
get bigger balls so that it is
easier to hit.

Include a review of the Standards, include a formative or summative assessment and provide an
explanation of when students will receive feedback on the assessment. Assign a written task (if
applicable) for student reflection.
