Goal Statement
In this paper, I will talk about my goals in my professional career. I will
graduate from the University of Kentucky in this May, and I would like to apply the
graduate program of art school in Britain. Animation and fashion are the two majors
that I have considered. Why do I decide to get into graduate school in Britain? What
can an MFA or MA do for my professionally? What institutions are good for
Animation and Fashion? What would be required of me to apply these majors?
First, I will talk about why I choose to study in graduate school. The
graduate is a higher level of education than undergraduate, if I continue studying as a
graduate student, I can not only get different techniques, and new theories, but also I
can get more different ideas. I can focus on my understanding of art; to develop my
skills and thoughts, to break out inspirations to create my artworks. It is a process of
exploring of the animation art, not only the process of study or simply interesting.
Im interested in Animation in The University of Edinburgh in Britain.
Before I apply this major, what should I prepare? The first one is language. I have to
have IELTS total 6.5 and at least 6.0 in each module, or Toefl- iBT total 92 and at
least 20 in each module (Animation). The second one is also the most important thing,
that is working on artworks. I need to show some drawings that were drawn by
different drawing media, techniques, and different colors to show my drawing ability,
include story telling, story board, animation film. I also need to know how to use
video codecs, and compositing software. I think the enthusiasm of the art is also one
of the most important things. For animation major, students need to focus on

producing short animated films. MA requires one-year study, if the MA can be
completed as a standalone degree in one year, continuation to the MFA is possible
(Animation). Both of them include a combination of practical studio work, theory and
so on.
After graduate from the animation major, students may find work in four
main areas: animation for cinema, broadcast and web platforms; interactive
animation; compositing and visual effects; and data visualization (Animation).
Im also interested in MA Fashion of Central Saint Martins of the University
of the Arts London. One reason is that the MA Fashion has an international profile
second to none. The graduate students from MA Fashion practice professionally at the
forefront of international fashion. The second reason is that I love fashion. I have a
strong personal style in fashion. I always avoid wearing the same as others on cloth
style. The last reason is that I want to combine Chinese traditional cultures with
fashion, and bring them to other countries. Thus, we can show unique fashion style to
others.
If I want to apply this major, the language is important because the language
is the basic of the communication. The standard English language requirement for
entry is IELTS 6.5 with a minimum of 5.5 in any one paper, or equivalent (MA
Fashion). Then I need to show some personal details, include my full name, birthday,
nationality, permanent address, current or previous education and qualification details,
and employment history, Referee details. I also have to write a personal statement to
explain what Im doing at the moment educationally, why do I relevant experience?

What is my relevant experience? Do I have any relevant skills? Why do I think I am a
suitable candidate for acceptance? There is one more requirement for international
students: to submit a portfolio that shows a minimum of four projects with working
process and final outcomes. For MA Fashion student, MA Fashion lasts 45 weeks fulltime. A feature of MA Fashion is the interrelated nature of the four pathways
offered (MA Fashion). These four path ways are Womenswear Fashion, Menswear
Fashion, Knitwear Fashion, and Textiles for Fashion. There are also two course units:
Diagnostic and Negotiated Phases and Independent Major Project. In the Diagnostic
and Negotiated Phases, students need to work on lots of different types of project. In
the Independent Major Project, students have to work more independently to develop
final projects.
After students graduate from MA Fashion of Central Saint Martins of
University of the Arts London, they can be designers and design directors worldwide,
or they can build reputations under their labels.
In sum, I prefer MA fashion because I always have lots of thoughts of
designing clothes with totally different styles. I sold a dress designed by me online. I
was so happy with this process. Though I am not a fashion major student in college, I
never stop designing cloth with my thoughts. Sometimes I am not satisfying with the
fashion styles that have existed in the fashion market because I think there are lots of
details have to be adjusted. I want to create more things of fashion with my styles.
Furthermore, graduate education can improve my professional level of creating art.
Thus, I can create my works broader.
