The leader of the executive branch is the President of the US.
Assisting the President is his trusty cabinet members that help
advise him on various issues and topics. Aside from the cabinet, the
president is also informed/advised by government

Diplomat: Treaties, appoint ambassadors, in charge of foreign policy, executive
agreements, recognition of foreign governments.
Jurist: Appoints Fed. Judges, & Pardon power.

As the country grows and evolves, so does the power of the executive. The president has
far more issues, and much more complicated issues than he did when the Constitution
was written. In order to meet these needs, the President has need to expand the use of
his inherent and enumerated powers to be able to fill the role that is required.

More often than not, the media portrays the president in a negative
light. The media tends to keep an eye on the president, waiting for
him to do something unfavorable. The media mostly acts as a
watchdog when it comes to the President. This act in itself helps
guide the executive in seeing what is desired and unfavorable by
the people. Though it may not alway be true due to media bias, it
will still represent a certain demographic of people that have their
interests aligned with that of the media group(s)
