STUDY OF SCOURING AROUND BRIDGE PIERS.

Abstract:
Scouring is one of the major threat to the stability of bridge piers. Based on laboratory
experiments, this project deliberated the relationship between scour depth and various other
parameters comprising of variations in water level and inflow velocity. To justify the relationship
between scour depth and inflow velocity as well as the relationship between scour depth and
water level, 25 readings were observed at different conditions in a horizontal sediment
circulatory loop. Collected data was analyzed by using statistical methods and graphs to develop
scour equations.
