ASSURE MODEL LESSON PLAN ON THE FLOWER

15 girls, 5 boys
Age Range: 11
Most of the students are operating at the grade five (5) level, only a small majority is operating at
the grade six (6) level.
Learning Styles: 100% kinesthetic learners, 25 % visual, 25% auditory, 15% linguistic learners,
35% visual spatial learners.
State Objectives
Cognitive
After watching a video about a flower students should be able to:
a) Define what the flower is
b) Label the different parts of the flower system

With the aid of a power point of the flower students should be able to explain the
functions of the different arts that make up the flower.

Psychomotor
At the end of the lesson students should be able draw and label a flower accurately.
With the aid of the teacher, students should be able to upload the drawing/diagram so be
placed in a folder for everyone to view.
Affective
Students will appreciate the importance of the flower and the role it plays in helping to
sustain life on earth.

Smart board will be used to watch video and view power point

Computer will be used to label the flower

Internet will be used for labelling of the different functions of the flower parts

Require Learner Participation


Introduction (10 minutes)
Students will watch a video on a flower. After watching the video students will be asked by a
raise of hands to name the different parts of the flower. Students will then be asked to careful
watch an interactive PowerPoint that will be presented on the parts of the flower. After the
presentation students will be asked to complete a test on the interactive PowerPoint presentation.
Activity (20 minutes)

Students will be instructed to go to the following website


http://extension.illinois.edu/gpe/case4/c4ml.html to label a diagram of the flower. Teacher will
walk around in order to ensure students are all on the site and to provide support if needed.
Production (25 minutes)
After labeling the diagram students will be told to turn off the computers. The teacher will
instruct students that they are going to draw and label a flower. With the aid of the teacher
students will scan their drawings and put all of the drawing in a folder for students to view on the
smart board.
