It is with great enthusiasm that I write this letter of recommendation for Miss Sydney Rossi.
Miss Rossi served as a student teacher in my first grade classroom during the 2016 Spring
semester and demonstrated her potential for being an excellent elementary teacher.
The first characteristic that impressed me with Miss Rossi was her initiative. Before the
semester even began, Miss Rossi took the time to contact me, introduce herself, and asked about
the curriculum and how to access it online so that she could research and prepare ahead of time.
This initiative continued once I met Sydney in person. From her first day in the classroom, I saw
her eagerness to truly get to know the students on an individual basis. She takes her
responsibility as a classroom teacher quite seriously and is prepared and diligent in her work.
Throughout the semester, Miss Rossi has executed lessons with fidelity and professionalism.
From the beginning, Miss Rossi welcomed constructive criticism and often reflected upon her
lessons. Miss Rossis ability to integrate subject matter across the curriculum more resembled a
seasoned teacher than a student teacher.
Miss Rossi developed excellent professional relationships with the faculty and staff at John Fitch
Elementary School. She interacts well in both formal and informal situations and looks to each
interaction as a learning opportunity. Miss Rossis warm personality worked very well in
interacting with parents. She kept families informed through emails and conferences and knew
how to communicate student concerns as well as point out student strengths.
As with most first grade classrooms, the academic skills, learning styles, and emotional needs of
the students in this classroom vary greatly. Miss Rossi worked hard each day to balance meeting
the needs of the individual student with the expectations of running a classroom as a whole. Her
lessons were hands-on and engaging. Miss Rossi was eager to help organize a field trip to the
Philadelphia Zoo and to incorporate Guided Reading and STEM lessons into the classroom on a
daily basis.
I highly recommend Sydney Rossi for an elementary teaching position. She has an excellent
background in teaching all primary subject areas and brings a unique creativity to her lessons. I
am confident that Miss Rossi would be an asset to any school. She is hard working, professional
and, most importantly, cares deeply for her students.
