Laser Doppler Vibrometer (Wave Physics Lab), Georgia Institute of Technology
Continuous scanning Laser Doppler vibrometry (CSLDV) is a known method of
sweeping a single laser beam along a periodic scan pattern to measure surface
vibrations at many points simultaneously by demultiplexing the CSLDV signal.
In-vivo active elastography for non-invasive diagnostics of human skeletal muscles
using external vibrating source can be very helpful in reducing un-necessary biopsies.
A stand-alone and low-cost elastography technique has been developed using a single
continuously scanning Laser Doppler Vibrometer to measure the propagation velocity
of surface vibrations over superficial skeletal muscles in order to assess muscle
stiffness.
